SPIRITUAL GUIDE

                                                               PRAYER

O All-Merciful Lord! Time is fleeting. The senses are revolting. The mind is jumping. Maya is deluding. The three fires are burning. The five afflictions are tormenting. Friends are disturbing. Diseases are troubling. The charms of the world are tempting. I can neither concentrate nor meditate. I cannot do anything in the spiritual path without Thy benign grace. O Lord! Thou art the ocean of mercy. Bless me.
O Adorable Lord! People proclaim that you are Deenabandhu, Deenanath, Kripa Nidhi, karuna Sagar, Anantha Rakshaka. I am still in pain, agony and darkness. I am crying for Thy grace and help.
O Self-Effulgent Lord! The fish cannot live without water. The sunflower cannot live without the Sun. The mind cannot live without Prana. The flame of lamp cannot burn without oil. I cannot live without Thee. O Lord, come, come,   enthrone Thyself in my heart. Thou are the soul of my soul.
Thou art Light Divine. Thou art Light of Knowledge. Thou art the dispeller of darkness. Thou art the Supreme Guru. Thou art beyond the reach of mind and speech. Thou art beyond any kind of limitation. Thou art the Over-soul. Thou art the Self of this Universe.
Thou art self-luminous. Thou art without parts, without actions, without limbs, without any taint or fault, without birth and death. Thou art our Father, Mother, Brother, Friend, Guru, Relative and sole Refuge. Thou art the embodiment of peace, Bliss, Knowledge, Power, Strength and Beauty.
O All-Merciful Lord! Through Thy grace, may I realize Truth! May I always entertain sublime thoughts! May I realize myself as the Light Divine!  May I serve humanity with Atma Bhav! May I be free of greed, lust, egotism, jealousy and hatred! May I behold the one sweet Immortal Self in all beings! May I realize Brahman with pure understanding!
May Thou, Light of lights ever guide me! May Thou cleanse my mind of all impurities! May Thou inspire me! May Thou bestow on me power, courage, and strength! May Thou remove the veil of the mind! May Thou remove all obstacles in the spiritual path! May Thou make my life happy and fruitful! I bow to Thee, O Lord of lords, O God of gods, O Deva of Devas, O Brahman of the Upanishads, the supporter for Maya and Isvara!

Vedanta in a nutshell

Without the Name, all suffer in sorrow. ; Cursed is emotional attachment and love of Maya; no one is seen to be at peace.  Arising each day, you cherish your body, but you are idiotic, ignorant and without understanding. You are not conscious of God, and your body shall be cast into the wilderness. Focus your consciousness on the True Guru; you shall enjoy bliss forever and ever. O mortal, you came here to earn a profit. What useless activities are you attached to? Those who fall at the Feet of the Guru are released from this bondage. For a brief moment, man is a guest of the Lord; he tries to resolve his affairs. Engrossed in Maya and sexual desire, the fool does not understand. He arises and departs with regret, and falls into the clutches of the Messenger of Death. You are sitting on the collapsing riverbank. Are you blind? If you are so pre-destined, then act according to the Guru’s Teachings. The Creator does not come into the mind of the blind, idiotic, self-willed manmukh. They ignore their Creator; without the Name, they are impure. Gathering the wealth of Maya, you earn an evil reputation. Those whom you work to please shall pass away along with you. Man’s life is diminishing, but he does not understand. Each day, the mouse of death is gnawing away at the rope of life. Maya spreads out like sweet molasses; the self-willed manmukh is stuck like a fly, rotting away. Emotional attachment to children and spouse is poison; in the end, no one will go along with you as your helper. The self-willed manmukh sinks like iron, while the boat is very close. The Boat of the True Guru is the Name of the Lord. How can we climb on board? One who walks in harmony with the True Guru’s Will comes to sit in this Boat. Blessed, blessed are those very fortunate ones who are united with the Lord through the True Guru. Those who have not met the Primal Being, the True Guru, are most unfortunate, and are subject to death. No one has found Him by stubborn-mindedness. All have grown weary of the effort. Thousands of clever mental tricks have been tried, but still, the raw and undisciplined mind does not absorb the Color of the Lord’s Love. By falsehood and deception, none have found Him. The world is polluted with the filth of egotism, suffering in pain. This filth sticks to them because of their love of duality. This filth of egotism cannot be washed away, even by taking cleansing baths at hundreds of sacred shrines. Performing all sorts of rituals, people are smeared with twice as  much filth. This filth is not removed by studying. Go ahead, and ask the wise ones. With a polluted mind, devotional service cannot be performed, and the Name of the Lord, cannot be obtained. This world is an illusion; people pass their life-nights sleeping. Those who remain awake and aware are saved, while those who sleep are plundered. They do not recognize the True Word of the Master, and like a dream, their lives fade away. The self-willed manmukhs create karma, and in the Court of the Lord, they receive their punishment.
O mind, give up the love of duality. You may torment your body with extremes of self-discipline, practice intensive meditation
and hang upside-down, but your ego will not be eliminated from within. You may perform religious rituals, and still never obtain the Name of the Lord. Those who turn their faces away from the True Guru shall have their faces blackened. Night and day, they suffer in pain; they see the noose of Death always hovering above them. Even in their dreams, they find no peace; they are consumed by the fires of intense anxiety. This wandering mind comes to rest. In the corruption of the three qualities, there is blindness; in attachment to Maya, there is darkness. The greedy people serve others, instead of the Lord, although they loudly announce their reading of scriptures. They are burnt to death by their own corruption; they are not at home, on either this shore or the one beyond. In attachment to Maya, they have forgotten the Father, the Cherisher of the World. Without the Guru, all are unconscious; they are held in bondage by the Messenger of Death. The self-willed manmukhs are polluted. They are filled with the pollution of egotism, wickedness and desire. Without the Word, this pollution is not washed off; through the cycle of death and rebirth, they waste away in misery. Engrossed in this transitory drama, they are not at home in either this world or the next. The self-willed manmukhs are engrossed in emotional attachment; they are not balanced or detached. The world is in misery, engrossed in the love of duality. Hypocrisy is not devotion. Speaking words of duality leads only to misery. The self-willed manmukhs do not know the Name. Without the Name, they lose their honor. They do not savor the Taste of the Word; they are attached to the love of duality. They are worms in the filth of manure. They fall into manure, and into manure they are absorbed. The three qualities hold the body in bondage; whoever comes into the world is subject to their play. Those who separate themselves from the Lord wander lost
in misery. The self-willed manmukhs do not attain union with Him. Those who practice falsehood are dogs; those who slander the Guru shall burn in their own fire. They wander lost and confused, deceived by doubt, suffering in terrible pain. The Messenger of Death shall beat them to a pulp. The self-willed manmukhs find no peace in this world, people are engrossed in false pursuits, but in the world hereafter, only the account of your true actions is accepted. Forgetting the Beloved, even for a moment, the mind is afflicted with terrible diseases. If inner filth is not removed, one’s life is cursed, and one’s clothes are cursed.
Those who have not contemplated the Name of the Lord are unworthy; they come and go in reincarnation. One who has not met with the True Guru, the Primal Being, is bothered and bewildered in the terrifying world-ocean. This jewel of the soul is priceless, and yet it is being squandered like this, in exchange for a mere shell. Those who do not have the Assets of Truth how can they find peace? By dealing their deals of falsehood, their minds and bodies become false. Like the deer caught in the trap, they suffer in terrible agony; they continually cry out in pain. The counterfeit coins are not put into the Treasury; they do not obtain the Blessed Vision of the Lord-Guru. The false ones have no social status or honor. No one succeeds through falsehood. Practicing falsehood, again and again, people come and go in reincarnation, and forfeit their honor. Wealth, the beauty of youth and flowers are guests for only a few days. Like the leaves of the water-lily, they wither and fade and finally die. God is far removed from those worthless people who lack virtue. The self-willed manmukhs are totally without virtue. Without the Name, they die in frustration.  The color of the world is false and weak; when it washes away, people cry out in pain. The blessing of this human life has been obtained, but still, people do not lovingly focus their thoughts on the Name of the Lord. Their feet slip, and they cannot stay here any longer. And in the next world, they find no place of rest at all. This opportunity shall not come again. In the end, they depart, regretting and repenting. They all show off and pretend, but the self-willed manmukhs do not understand.
Through stubborn-mindedness, the intellect is drowned; one who becomes Gurmukh and truthful is saved. Without the Guru, how can anyone swim across to find peace? We shall merge into the One from whom we came. The True One is pervading each and every heart. The Gurmukh knows the Divine Light, while the foolish self-willed manmukh gropes around in the darkness. One who sees that Light within each and every heart understands the Essence of the Guru’s teaching. Those who understand are Gurmukh; recognize and applaud them. They meet and merge with the True One. They become the Radiant Manifestation of the Excellence of the True One. They are contented with the Name of the Lord. They offer their bodies and souls to God. Without virtue, this body is useless; the body shall crumble into a pile of dust. So mind must earn the profit. The Gurmukh praises the Name of God, and the fire of egotism is extinguished. Lord’s Real Value is known only through the Wisdom of the Guru’s Teachings. Even if someone has hundreds of thousands of clever mental tricks, and the love and company of hundreds of thousands of people, still, without the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, he will not feel satisfied.
Chanting the Name of the Lord, O soul, you shall be emancipated; as Gurmukh, you shall come to understand your own self. I have sold my body and mind to the Guru. The True Guru has united me in Union, with that God. I have no anxiety about dying, and no hope of living. By chanting the Name of the Lord; the mind will be pleased and appeased. The raging fire within is extinguished; the Gurmukh obtains spiritual wisdom. Know the state of your inner being; meet with the Guru and get rid of your skepticism. To reach your True Home after you die, you must conquer death. Chant the Name of the Lord day and night; become Gurmukh, and know the Wealth of the Lord. All comforts and peace, and the Essence of the Lord, are enjoyed by acquiring spiritual wisdom in the Society of the Saints. Day and night, continually serve the Lord God; the True Guru while you are still alive.
If the mind becomes balanced and detached, and comes to dwell in its own true home, imbued with the Fear of God, then it enjoys the essence of supreme spiritual wisdom; it shall never feel hunger again. So conquer and subdue this mind; meet with the Lord, and you shall never again suffer in pain. One who meets with the Holy True Guru finds the Treasure of Excellence. The Gurmukhs are wondrously joyful.
Meeting with the Guru, peace is found. The fire is extinguished in His Glorious Praises. One who does not forget the Naam, for a moment or even an instant how rare is such a person in this world! The Lord abides within the mind of the Gurmukh, who merges in the Lord’s Union, through the Guru. The lotus blossoms deep within the heart, and filled with Ambrosial Nectar, one is satisfied. Make the True Guru your friend; going to His Court, you shall obtain the True Lord. Meditate on the Lord, follow the Guru’s Teachings, and speak of the Lord.
Apply the Touchstone of Truth to your mind, and see if it comes up to its full weight. No one has found the worth of the ruby of the heart; its value cannot be estimated. The Diamond of the Lord is within the Guru. The True Guru is found in the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. Day and night, praise the Word. The True Merchandise, Wealth and Capital are obtained through the Radiant Light of the Guru. Just as fire is extinguished by pouring on water, desire becomes the slave of the Lord’s slaves. The Messenger of Death will not touch you; in this way, you shall cross over the terrifying world-ocean, carrying others across with you. The Gurmukhs do not like falsehood. They are imbued with Truth; they love only Truth. The true ones are absorbed into the True Lord. The Name is the True Merchandise and Wealth; in each and every heart, His Presence is deep and profound. The Gurmukh finds the Diamond of the Lord, by His Kindness and Compassion
There is no other way to perform devotional worship, except through the Teachings of the True Guru. Become Gurmukh, and extinguish the fire within. Let the Words of the Guru abide within your mind; let egotism and desires die. Join the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, and find the Lord. The Gurmukh embraces love for the Lord. Give up your selfishness, and you shall find peace; like water mingling with water, you shall merge in absorption. Your demerits shall be forgotten; the Guru shall preserve your honor. The Boat of Truth will ferry you across; contemplate the Guru.
Those who joyfully meet with the True Guru are perfectly fulfilled and wise. Meeting with the Guru, they cross over the terrifying world-ocean. In the Court of the Lord, they are honored and approved. Their faces are radiant; the Music of the Word of God wells up within them. Make your deals, dealers, and take care of your merchandise. Buy that object which will go along with you. So chant the Lord’s Name, and focus your consciousness on Him. Take the Merchandise of the Lord’s Praises with you.  Those who are imbued with the love of the Name of the Lord are not loaded down by doubt. Those who chant the Name of the Lord earn great profits; the Fearless Lord abides within their minds
O beautiful soul-bride? You must go to your in-laws; you cannot stay with your parents forever. Make good deeds the soil, and let the Word of the Master be the seed; irrigate it continually with the water of Truth. Become such a farmer, and faith will sprout. This brings knowledge of heaven and hell. He alone is a saint, who renounces selfishness and conceit, and makes the One Name his Support. There is one awareness among all created beings. None have been created without this awareness. The nature of the spiritual people is they are self-realized; they understand God. By Guru’s Grace, they contemplate Him; such spiritual people are honored in His Court. As we plant, so we harvest and eat. Without the oil, how can the lamp be lit? Let the reading of your prayer book be the oil, and let the Fear of God be the wick for the lamp of this body. Light this lamp with the understanding of Truth. Use this oil to light this lamp. Light it, and meet your Lord and Master. This body is softened with the Word of the Guru and you shall find peace, doing seva (selfless service). I serve my True Guru with single-minded devotion, and lovingly focus my consciousness on Him. Meditate on the Name, worship the Name, and through the Name, you shall be absorbed in intuitive peace and poise.
O mind, drink in the Sublime Essence of the Lord, and your thirst shall be quenched. Those Gurmukhs who have tasted it remain intuitively absorbed in the Lord. Those who serve the True Guru obtain the Treasure of the Naam. Deep within, they are drenched with the Essence of the Lord, and the egotistical pride of the mind is subdued. The heart-lotus blossoms forth, and they intuitively center themselves in meditation. Their minds become pure, and they remain immersed in the Lord; they are honored in His Court. Those who serve the True Guru in this world are very rare. Those who keep the Lord enshrined in their hearts subdue egotism and possessiveness. When the mind is permeated with the Lord, one remains detached within the home of the heart. O mind, remain detached in the midst of your household. Practicing truth, self-discipline and good deeds, the Gurmukh is enlightened. Through the Word of the Guru the mind is conquered, and one attains the State of Liberation in one’s own home. So meditate on the Name of the Lord; join and merge with the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. Those who wear the Necklace of the Lord around their necks, and focus their consciousness on the Guru’s Feet wealth and supernatural spiritual powers follow them, but they do not care for such things at all.
Whatever pleases God’s Will comes to pass. Nothing else can be done. Servant Nanak lives by chanting the Name. Those who meet the True Lord are not separated again. Through 8.4 million incarnations they wander lost and confused; through all their wandering and roaming, they are ruined. It is very difficult to serve the True Guru. Surrender your head; give up your selfishness. By personally experiencing the Personality of the Guru, one’s own personality is uplifted, and one’s light merges into the Light. Through the Guru's Teachings, they praise the True Lord; they find the Lord, the Treasure of Excellence. Attuned to the Word of the Master, they are immaculate and pure. Those people, within whose hearts the Lord abides, are radiant and enlightened. The Lord is near at hand; He is pervading everywhere. Those who follow the Guru’s Teachings realize Him, and see Him Ever-present. He dwells forever in the minds of the virtuous. Those who hear and believe in the Word of the Guru, meditate on the Lord in their minds. Night and day, they are steeped in devotion; their minds and bodies become pure. Those who have the Radiant Light of the Name within, become steady and stable, forever and ever. Those whom the Lord blesses with His Glance of Grace are saved; they are lovingly attuned to the Lord. Those Gurmukhs who are pure of heart, their service is accepted. They sing the Glorious Praise of the Lord; they read about the Lord each day. Singing the Praise of the Lord, they merge in absorption. Fruitful are the lives of those who walk in harmony with the Will of the True Guru. Their families are saved; blessed are the mothers who gave birth to them. The Gurmukhs meditate on the Name; they eradicate selfishness and conceit from within. They are pure, inwardly and outwardly; they merge into the Truest of the True. O Nanak, blessed is the coming of those who follow the Guru’s Teachings and meditate on the Lord. The devotees of the Lord have the Wealth and Capital of the Lord; with Guru’s Advice, they carry on their trade. They praise the Name of the Lord forever and ever. The Name of the Lord is their Merchandise and Support. The Perfect Guru has implanted the Name of the Lord into the Lord’s devotees; it is an Inexhaustible Treasure. Become Gurmukh, and meditate on the Name. Devotion to the Lord is love for the Lord. The Gurmukh reflects deeply and contemplates. Those humble beings who are filled with keen understanding and meditative contemplation. Even though they intermingle with others, they remain distinct. Those who keep the Lord enshrined within their hearts are said to be the servants of the Lord. Placing mind and body in offering before the Lord, they conquer and eradicate egotism from within. Blessed and acclaimed is that Gurmukh, who shall never be defeated. Those who receive His Grace find Him. In the Sanctuary of the Guru, peace is found. The Guru has lit the brilliant light of spiritual wisdom, and the darkness of ignorance has been dispelled. The Gurmukhs shed their ego; attuned to the Name, they find peace. The Gurmukhs do good deeds and blossom forth; balanced and detached in the Lord, they are in ecstasy. Night and day, they perform devotional worship, day and night; subduing their ego, they are carefree. By great good fortune, I found the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation; I have found the Lord, with intuitive ease and ecstasy. That person is a Holy Saadhu and a renouncer of the world, whose heart is filled with the Name. His inner being is not touched by anger or dark energies at all; he has lost his selfishness and conceit.
The True Guru has revealed to him the Treasure of the Name, the Name of the Lord; he drinks in the Sublime Essence of the Lord, and is satisfied. Whoever has found it, has done so in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. Through perfect good fortune, such balanced detachment is attained. O mind! give up slander, egotism and arrogance. Become Gurmukh, and meditate forever on the Dear Lord, the One and Only Creator. They obtain peace in this world and the next.
The three qualities hold people in attachment to Maya. The Gurmukh attains the fourth state of higher consciousness. Those who have the treasure of goodness join the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation.
Follow the Guru’s Teachings and dwell in truth. Practice truth, and only truth, and merge in the True Word of the master. Renouncing selfishness, I fall at their feet, and walk in harmony with His Will. Without the Guru, the Mansion of the Lord’s Presence is not found, and the Name is not obtained. Seek and find such a True Guru, who shall lead you to the True Lord. Destroy your evil passions, and you shall dwell in peace. Whatever pleases the Lord comes to pass. This body is the puppet of Maya. The evil of egotism is within it. Coming and going through birth and death, the self-willed manmukhs lose their honor. Serving the True Guru, eternal peace is obtained and one’s light merges into the Light. Serving the True Guru brings a deep and profound peace, and one’s desires are fulfilled. Abstinence, truthfulness and self-discipline are obtained, and the body is purified; the Lord comes to dwell within the mind. Such a person remains blissful forever, day and night. Meeting the Beloved, peace is found. Those who seek the Sanctuary of the True Guru, in the Court of the True One, they are blessed with true greatness; they are intuitively absorbed into the True Lord. Meditate on the Name with one-pointed mind. Remain united with the Society of the Saints. The Gurmukh is the happy and pure soul. His speech is sweet and his way of life is humble. is noble; he has infinite love for the Guru. By perfect good fortune, one meets the True Guru, when one’s destiny is awakened. Suffering and doubt are cut out from within, and peace is obtained. One who walks in harmony with the Guru’s Will shall not suffer in pain. Offer your body and mind to Him. With intuitive ease, you shall merge with the True Lord, without the Guru, there is no devotional worship. Without the Guru, devotion is not obtained, even though everyone may long for it. Life wastes away in vain. He bestows enlightened awareness. Through the Word of the Guru, remain dead while yet alive, and the Name of the Lord shall come to dwell within the mind. Hurry to the Protection of the Guru’s Sanctuary. By Guru’s Grace you shall be saved. Through the Word of the Guru’s Word, you shall cross over the terrifying world-ocean of poison. Everything under the influence of the three qualities shall perish; the love of duality is corrupting.
The Pandits, the religious scholars, read the scriptures, but they are trapped in the bondage of emotional attachment. In love with evil, they do not understand. Meeting the Guru, the bondage of the three qualities is cut away, and in the fourth state, the Door of Liberation is attained. Through the Guru, the Path is found, and the darkness of emotional attachment is dispelled. If one dies through the Word, then salvation is obtained, and one finds the Door of Liberation. By Guru’s Grace, one remains blended with the True Name of the Creator. By His Grace, the Guru is found, and the Name of the Lord is implanted within. Without the Guru, no one has obtained it; they waste away their lives in vain.
The Lord dwells within you; serving the Guru, you shall find peace. Serving the True Guru, the mind becomes immaculate and pure; egotism and corruption are discarded. So abandon your selfishness, and remain dead while yet alive. Contemplate the Word of the Guru. The pursuit of worldly affairs comes to an end, when you embrace love for the True One. Those who are attuned to Truth, their faces are radiant in the Court of the True Lord. Those who do not have faith in the Primal Being, the True Guru, and who do not enshrine love for the word, they take their cleansing baths, and give to charity again and again, but they are ultimately consumed by their love of duality. One who fears, loves, and is devoted to the Dear Lord day and night, sees Him always close at hand. Doubt runs far away from the bodies of those, whose minds remain forever attuned to the True Word of the Master. The Immaculate Lord and Master is found. He is True; He is the Ocean of Excellence. Through perfect good destiny, one finds the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, and one comes to meet the True Guru. They cast off the filth of their mental duality, and they keep the Lord enshrined in their hearts. True is their speech, and true are their minds. They are in love with the True One. Without the Guru, the disease is not cured. He inspires the Gurmukh to understand. He corrects those who make mistakes. The virtuous obtain Truth; surrender to the Guru’s Will. Mind and body are totally cooled and soothed, and the Name comes to dwell in the mind. Contemplating His Virtues, I accumulate virtue and merit; I wash myself clean of demerits. He Himself unites us in His Union; there is no more separation. God is your Husband; He is Handsome and True. He is obtained by reflecting upon the Guru. The one who meets the True Guru, by perfect good fortune, finds her Husband; she is absorbed in the True One. The happy soul-brides are embellished and exalted; night and day they are absorbed in devotional worship. She is overflowing with the treasure of devotion. That Beloved God abides in her mind; He gives His Support to all.
Like a lamp lit in the darkness, the spiritual wisdom of the Guru dispels ignorance. He is the Giver of the Name of the Lord. God Himself causes us to meet Him. The True Guru understands the Lord God. There is no other as Great as the Guru. I have come and collapsed in the Guru’s Sanctuary. In His Kindness, He has united me with God. Whatever you plant, you shall eat. The Name is a Priceless Jewel; it is with the Perfect True Guru. When one is enjoined to serve the True Guru, He brings out this Jewel and bestows this enlightenment. Blessed, and most fortunate of the very fortunate, are those who come to meet the Guru.
The Gurmukhs, my spiritual friends, bestow virtue. Meeting with my spiritual friends, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. The Diamond of the Guru has pierced the diamond of my mind, which is now dyed in the deep crimson color of the Name. There is ignorance within, and the pain of doubt, like a separating screen. Without meeting with the True Guru, no one is transformed into gold. The Word of the True Guru is the Jewel. One who believes in it tastes the Sublime Essence of the Lord. Those who partake of the Lord’s Sublime Essence, through the Guru’s Love, are known as great and very fortunate. The body and mind totally blossom forth and flourish; The Lord comes to dwell within the mind. God is my Friend and Companion. Through the Guru's Teachings, some embrace love for the Lord, and are saved. They remain detached and unaffected, and they find the Sanctuary of the Lord. For the Gurmukhs, the Way is obvious. At the Lord’s Door, they face no obstructions. Peace is found in the Saadh Sangat- the Company of the Holy. If the Supreme Lord, the Architect of Destiny, writes such an order, then anguish and anxiety are erased. Through the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy understanding has entered my mind, and I have met the All-knowing Lord God. Let me forget everything, but let me not forget the One Lord. All my evil pursuits have been burnt away; the Guru has blessed me with the Name, the true object of life. Give up all other hopes, and rely on the One Hope. Those who serve the True Guru receive a place in the world hereafter. O my mind, praise the Creator. Give up all your clever tricks, and fall at the Feet of the Guru. Pain and hunger shall not oppress you, if the Giver of Peace comes into your mind. No undertaking shall fail, when the True Lord is always in your heart. No one can kill that one unto whom You, Lord, give Your Hand and protect. Serve the Guru, the Giver of Peace; He shall wash off the residues of all your mistakes. Your servant begs to serve those who are enjoined to Your service. The opportunity to work hard serving the Saadh Sangat is obtained, when the Divine Lord is pleased. When the mind accepts, and is satisfied with the One, then the consciousness becomes steady and stable. Then, one’s food is the True Name, one’s garments are the True Name, and one’s Support, is the True Name. All things are received if the One is obtained. The precious gift of this human life becomes fruitful when one chants the True Word of the Master. One enters the Mansion of the Lord’s Presence, through the Guru. O mind, focus your consciousness on the One. Without the One, all entanglements are worthless; emotional attachment to Maya is totally false. My mind and body are cooled and soothed. Fruitful is that moment, and fruitful is that time, when one is in love with the True Lord. Suffering and sorrow do not touch those who have the Support of the Name of the Lord. Grasping him by the arm, the Guru lifts them up and out, and carries them across to the other side. Embellished and immaculate is that place where the Saints gather together. He alone finds shelter, who has met the Perfect Gurusikh builds his house upon that site where there is no death, no birth, and no old age. Place the hopes of your mind in the One, in whom all have faith. Give up all your clever tricks, and grasp the Feet of the Guru. Twenty-four hours a day, meditate on God. Constantly sing the Glories of the Lord of the Universe. Seek His Shelter, O my mind; there is no other as Great as He. Remembering Him in meditation, a profound peace is obtained. Pain and suffering will not touch you at all. Forever and ever, work for God; He is our True Lord and Master. In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall become absolutely pure, and the noose of death shall be cut away. So offer your prayers to Him, the Giver of Peace, the Destroyer of fear. Showing His Mercy, the Merciful Master shall resolve your affairs. The Lord is said to be the Greatest of the Great; His Kingdom is the Highest of the High. He has no color or mark; His Value cannot be estimated. One who meditates on the Name is at peace; his face is radiant and bright. Obtaining it from the Perfect Guru, he is honored all over the world. The Name is your Companion; it shall always be with you. It shall save you in the world hereafter. There is only the One Supreme Lord God; there is no other at all. Soul and body all belong to Him; whatever pleases His Will comes to pass. Through the Perfect Guru, one becomes perfect; Spiritual wisdom wells up in the minds of those unto whom the Lord Himself shows Mercy. The fear of death and rebirth is removed by performing loving devotional service to the Lord of the World. In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, one becomes immaculate and pure; the Lord Himself takes care of such a one. The filth of birth and death is washed away, and one is uplifted, beholding the Blessed Vision of the Guru’s Darshan. The Supreme Lord God is pervading all places and interspaces. The One is the Giver of all. There is no other at all. Perfectly fulfilled and famous are those, in whose minds the Supreme Lord God abides. Their reputation is spotless and pure; Chanting the Name, you shall receive the benefits of giving charity and taking cleansing baths. Sexual desire, anger and greed are eliminated, and all egotistical pride is abandoned. Make God your Friend. He does not die, He does not come and go. In separation, He is not separated from us. Seeing Him, our evil inclinations vanish; mind and body become peaceful and tranquil. With one pointed mind, meditate on the One Lord, and the doubts of your mind will be dispelled. He is the Treasure of Excellence, the Ever-fresh Being. His Gift is Perfect and Complete. Forever and ever, worship and adore Him. Remain in God’s Sanctuary forever, and no suffering shall afflict you. Always keep the Company of the Holy, and focus your consciousness on the Feet of the Guru. Let the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, be your cleansing baths at the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage. Your soul, breath of life, mind and body shall blossom forth in lush profusion; this is the true purpose of life. The mind and body become spotlessly pure, enshrining love for the True Lord. One who dwells upon the Feet of the Supreme Lord God has truly performed all meditations and austerities. The True Capital, and the True Way of Life, comes by chanting His Glories, twenty-four hours a day. How can I measure the happiness of meditating on the Lord of the Universe? Those who taste it are satisfied and fulfilled; their souls know this Sublime Essence. With your tongue, repeat the True Name, and your mind and body shall become pure. Meet with the humble Saints, O Siblings of Destiny, and contemplate the True Name. For the journey of the soul, gather those supplies which will go with you here and hereafter. These are obtained from the Perfect Guru, there is no other as great as the Guru. The Guru leads me to meet the True Lord. Those who go to see the Guru obtain all treasures. Those whose minds are attached to the Guru’s Feet are very fortunate. The Guru is the Giver, the Guru is All-powerful. The Guru is All-pervading, contained amongst all. The Guru is the Transcendent Lord, the Supreme Lord God. The Guru lifts up and saves those who are drowning. How shall I praise the Guru, the All-powerful Cause of causes? Those, upon whose foreheads the Guru has placed His Hand, remain steady and stable. The Guru has led me to drink in the Ambrosial Nectar of the Name, the Name of the Lord; He has released me from the cycle of birth and death.

There is one Universal Creator- GOD.
True in the Primal beginning, true throughout the ages, true here and now, forever and ever true.
The True One Himself is All. By Guru’s grace ~chant and meditate on Him. True is the Master, True is His Name. Recite it with infinite love.

How can you become truthful? And how can the veil of illusion be torn away? By obeying the Command, of the True Master and walking in the Way of His Will.
What words can we speak to evoke His Love?  Chant the True Name, and contemplate His Glorious Greatness. By the karma of past actions, the robe of this physical body is obtained. By His Grace, the Gate of Liberation is found.
Guru’s Word is the Wisdom of the Vedas; the Guru’s Word is all pervading.
The Immaculate Lord cannot be described in words. If anyone presumes to describe God, he shall be known as the greatest fool of fools! He is One, the Creator of the World; the Sustainer; and the Destroyer. He watches over all, but none see Him. He created the world, with its various colors, species of beings, and the variety of Maya. Having created the creation, He watches over it Himself, by His Greatness. He does whatever He pleases. No order can be issued to Him. He is the King, the King of kings, the Supreme Lord and Master of kings. Everyone says that God is the Greatest of the Great. No one calls Him any less. No one can estimate His Worth. By speaking of Him, His Greatness is not increased.

By His Grace only He is obtained. By their deeds and their actions, they shall be judged. God Himself is True, and True is His Court. In the realm of wisdom, spiritual wisdom reigns supreme. Neither death nor deception comes to those, within whose minds the Lord abides.

Let self-control be the furnace, and patience the goldsmith. Let understanding be the anvil, and spiritual wisdom the tools.

In the crucible of love, melt the Nectar of the Name, and mint the True Coin of the Word of God. By His Grace, he uplifts and exalts us. Good deeds and bad deeds, the record is read out in the Presence of the Lord of Dharma. According to their own actions, some are drawn closer, and some are driven farther away. His devotees are imbued with His Sublime Essence. The True One embellishes and exalts.
Those who forget their Lord and Master are vile and despicable. Those who have not sought the Sanctuary of the True Guru and the Sangat, the Holy Congregation cursed are their lives, and cursed are their hopes of life. One who joins the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, is saved. By Guru’s Grace, the supreme status is obtained, and the dry wood blossoms forth again in lush greenery. Mothers, fathers, friends, children and spouses no one is the support of anyone else. For each and every person, our Lord and Master provides sustenance. There is no other like Him. Great are His Gifts.

Let spiritual wisdom be your food, and compassion your attendant. Union with Him, and separation from Him come by His Will. Make contentment your ear-rings, humility your begging bowl, and meditation the ashes you apply to your body. Let the remembrance of death be the patched coat you wear, let the purity of virginity be your way in the world, and let faith in the Lord be your walking stick. See the brotherhood of all mankind as the highest order of Yogis; conquer your own mind, and conquer the world.

Only one who has faith comes to know such a state of mind. The faithful have intuitive awareness and intelligence. The faithful do not have to go with the Messenger of Death. The faithful do not follow empty religious rituals. The faithful are firmly bound to the Dharma. The faithful find the Door of Liberation. The faithful uplift and redeem their family and relations. The chosen ones meditate single-mindedly on the Guru. Countless devotees contemplate the Wisdom and Virtues of the Lord. The devotees are forever in bliss.
When the hands and the feet and the body are dirty, water can wash away the dirt. When the clothes are soiled and stained by urine, soap can wash them clean. But when the intellect is stained and polluted by sin, it can only be cleansed by the Love of the Name. Virtue and vice do not come by mere words; actions repeated, over and over again, are engraved on the soul. You shall harvest what you plant. Pilgrimages, austere discipline, compassion and charity by themselves, bring only an iota of merit. Listening and believing with love and humility in your mind, cleanse yourself with the Name, at the sacred shrine deep within. All virtues are Yours, Lord, I have none at all. Without virtue, there is no devotional worship. I bow to the Lord of the World, to His Word, to Brahma the Creator. He is Beautiful, True and Eternally Joyful. He Himself knows Himself. His limits cannot be perceived. You, Eternal and Formless One with Countless names, inaccessible, unapproachable, in countless celestial realms. Whatever pleases You is the only good done, By His Glance of Grace, He bestows His Blessings.
Liberation from bondage comes only by His Will. Priceless are His Virtues, Priceless are His dealings. Priceless are His Dealers, Priceless are His Treasures. Priceless are those who come to Him, Priceless are those who buy from Him. Priceless is Love for Him, Priceless is absorption into Him. Priceless is the Divine Law of Dharma, Priceless is the Divine Court of Justice. Priceless is His Mercy, Priceless is His Royal Command. Priceless, O Priceless beyond expression! Speak of Him continually, and remain absorbed in His Love. He is as Great as He wishes to be.

Your devotees are imbued with the Nectar of Your Essence. Wisdom, honor and wealth are in the laps of those whose hearts remain permeated with the Lord.

The Primal One, the Pure Light, without beginning, without end. Throughout all the ages, He is One and the Same. He is Immaculate and Pure. The Lord is Inaccessible, unreachable and unrivalled. All living beings are His. He is the Giver of all souls. He is the Dispeller of all sorrow. Those humble beings who meditate on the Lord dwell in peace in this world. They are liberated. For them, the noose of death is cut away. Those who meditate on the Fearless One, on the Fearless Lord, all their fears are dispelled. Those who serve, those who serve my Dear Lord, are absorbed into the Being of the Lord. Blessed are they. Everything happens according to His Will. Whatever pleases Him comes to pass.

As You give, so do we receive. Those who are blessed with Your Mercy obtain the Jewel of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. The Gurmukhs obtain it, and the self-willed manmukhs lose it. You Yourself separate them from Yourself, and You Yourself reunite with them again. You are the River of Life; all are within You. There is no one except You. All living beings are Your playthings. Those who serve You find peace. They are intuitively absorbed into the Lord’s Name. In the swamp of emotional attachment, their feet cannot move. The foolish and ignorant in this world are drowning. In your mind, if you do not remember the One Lord your virtues shall wither away.
Seek the Sanctuary of those who have not forgotten Him. This human body has been given to you. This is your chance to meet the Lord of the Universe. Nothing else will work. Join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; vibrate and meditate on the Jewel of the Naam. Make every effort to cross over this terrifying world-ocean. You are squandering this life uselessly in the love of Maya. In that house where the Praises of the Creator are chanted and the Creator Lord is contemplated brings eternal peace.

The pleasures of gold and silver, the pleasures of women, the pleasure of the fragrance of sandalwood, the pleasure of horses, the pleasure of a soft bed in a palace, the pleasure of sweet treats and the pleasure of hearty meals. These pleasures of the human body are so numerous; how can the Naam, the Name of the Lord, find its dwelling in the heart? The Great Giver has given the intoxicating drug of falsehood. Those who do not use intoxicants are true; they dwell in the Court of the Lord, know the True Lord as True. Serving Him, peace is obtained; they shall go to His Court with honor. The Wine of Truth is not fermented from molasses. Only one who obtains a room in the Mansion of the Lord’s Presence is deemed to be truly intoxicated. Bathe in the waters of Goodness and apply the scented oil of Truth to your body, and your face shall become radiant.

Tell your troubles to the One who is the Source of all comfort. How can you forget the One who created your soul, and the breath of life? Without Him, all that we wear and eat is impure. Everything else is false. Burn emotional attachment, and grind it into ink. Transform your intelligence into the purest of paper. Make the love of the Lord your pen, and let your consciousness be the scribe. Then, seek the Guru’s Instructions, and record these deliberations. Write the Praises of the Naam, the Name of the Lord; write over and over again that He has no end or limitation. Write such an account, that when it is asked for, it will bring the Mark of Truth. There, where greatness, eternal peace and everlasting joy are bestowed, the faces of those whose minds are attuned to the True Name are anointed with the Mark of Grace. If one receives God’s Grace, then such honors are received, and not by mere words. Going to the world hereafter, everyone shall realize that without the Name, it is all useless.

The Palace of the Lord God is so beautiful. How can I climb up to the Fortress without a ladder? By meditating on the Lord, through the Guru, I am blessed and exalted. The Guru is the Ladder, the Guru is the Boat, and the Guru is the Raft to take me to the Lord’s Name. The Guru is the Boat to carry me across the world-ocean; the Guru is the Sacred Shrine of Pilgrimage, the Guru is the Holy River. If it pleases Him, I bathe in the Pool of Truth, and become radiant and pure. He fulfills the hopes of the hopeless. We meet with our Beloved, the Source of Joy, when we listen to the Word of the Guru, Truth in us wells up. The truthful are absorbed into the True Lord. Intuitive understanding is obtained and one is welcomed with honor, through the Guru’s Word, filled with the Fear of God, the True King absorbs us into Himself.

By actions committed under the influence of the three qualities, hope and anxiety are produced. Without the Guru, how can anyone be released from these three qualities? Through intuitive wisdom, we meet with Him and find peace. Within the home of the self, His Presence is realized when He bestows His Glance of Grace and washes away our pollution. Without the Guru, this pollution is not removed. Contemplate the One Word of the True Master, and abandon other hopes. Inspire others to behold Him. In this world, you shall not find any shelter; in the world hereafter, being false, you shall suffer.

The True Lord is the Great Farmer of the Universe. First, He prepares the ground, and then He plants the Seed of the True Name. The nine treasures are produced from Name of the One Lord. By His Grace, we shall not be consigned again to the wheel of reincarnation.

Through the Guru’s Teachings, the Light shines forth. By pre-ordained destiny, I have met with the Guru. I have entered into the realm of the Lord’s Love. Without the Lord, my soul is scorched and burnt. I consulted my Guru, and now I see that there is no other place at all. Chanting your Name, I live; forgetting it, I die. Lord, please instill within me the yearning for You. the splendor of Maya is deceptive. Greed is a dog; falsehood is a filthy street-sweeper. Cheating is eating a rotting carcass. Slandering others is putting the filth of others into your own mouth. The fire of anger is the outcaste who burns dead bodies at the crematorium. I am caught in these tastes and flavors, and in self-conceited praise. My body was overflowing with anger and sexual desire; these were broken into bits when I met with the Holy Saint. I was saved, and the egotism within my heart was subdued. The evil energies have been made to serve me, since I placed my faith in the True Guru. I have renounced my useless schemes, by the Grace of the True, O mind, meeting with the True One, fear departs. Without the Fear of God, how can anyone become fearless? The pain of birth and the fear of death are eradicated. Let me be the dust of the feet of the Saints for this begets happiness.

My mind is imbued with the Lord’s Love; it is dyed a deep crimson. Truth and charity are my white clothes. The blackness of sin is erased by my wearing of blue clothes, and meditation on the Lord’s Lotus Feet is my robe of honor. Contentment is my cummerbund, Your Name is my wealth and youth. The pursuit of virtue is my bow and arrow, my quiver, sword and scabbard. To be distinguished with honor is my drum and banner. Your Mercy is my social status. With the heart illuminated with wisdom, I chant the Praises of the True Name, the Treasure of Excellence. Before this wisdom other wisdom is useless and irrelevant. If falsehood is practiced a hundred times, it is still false in its effects.

You may be worshipped and adored as a Pir (a spiritual teacher); you may be welcomed by all the world; you may adopt a lofty name, and be known to have supernatural spiritual powers, even so, if you are not accepted in the Court of the Lord, then all this adoration is false. No one can overthrow those who have been established by the True Guru. The Treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is within them, and through the Naam, they are radiant and famous. They worship the Naam, and they believe in the Naam. The True One is forever Intact and Unbroken. When the body mingles with dust, what happens to the soul? All clever tricks are burnt away, and you shall depart crying. One who attains perfection as Gurmukh, obtains the Immeasurable True Lord.

Saints have found the Imperishable Supreme Being, the Transcendent Lord God, and they receive great honor throughout all the worlds and realms. In the Name of
the Lord, they enjoys celestial peace.

This life is diminishing, day and night. Meeting with the Guru, your affairs shall be resolved. This world is engrossed in corruption and cynicism. Only those who know God are saved. Only those who are awakened by the Lord come to drink in this Sublime Essence, come to know the Unspoken Speech of the Lord.

Purchase only that for which you have come into the world, and through the Guru, the Lord shall dwell within your mind. Become Gurmukh, and immerse yourself in the Word of True Master. The Gurmukhs purchase the Genuine Article. The True Merchandise is purchased with the True Capital. Those who purchase this True Merchandise through the Perfect Guru are blessed. One who stocks this True Merchandise shall recognize and realize the Genuine Article. As metal merges with metal, those who chant the Praises of the Lord are absorbed into the Praiseworthy Lord. Like the poppies, they are dyed in the deep crimson color of Truthfulness. Those contented souls who meditate on the Lord with single minded love, meet the True Lord.

O Siblings of Destiny, become the dust of the feet of the humble Saints. In the Society of the Saints, the Guru is found. He is the Treasure of Liberation, the Source of all good fortune. By true actions, this human body is obtained, and the door within ourselves which leads to the Mansion of the Beloved, is found. The Gurmukhs train their minds to contemplate the Lord, the Supreme Soul.

Some are very knowledgeable, but if they do not know the Guru, then what is the use of their lives? The blind have forgotten the Name of the Lord. The self-willed manmukhs are in utter darkness. Their comings and goings in reincarnation do not end; through death and rebirth, they are wasting away. The bride may buy sandalwood oil and perfumes, and apply them in great quantities to her hair; she may sweeten her breath with betel leaf and camphor, but if this bride is not pleasing to her Husband Lord, then all these trappings are false. Her enjoyment of all pleasures is futile, and all her decorations are corrupt. Until she has been pierced through with the Master’s Word, how can she look beautiful at Guru’s Gate? Blessed is that fortunate bride, who is in love with her Husband Lord.

The empty body is dreadful, when the soul goes out from within. The burning fire of life is extinguished, and the smoke of the breath no longer emerges. The five relatives (the senses) weep and wail painfully, and waste away through the love of duality. The body is burnt to ashes; by its love of Maya, the mind is rusted through. Demerits become one’s enemies, and falsehood blows the bugle of attack. Without the Word of the Master, people wander lost in reincarnation. Through the love of duality, multitudes have been drowned. O mind, swim across, by focusing your consciousness on the Word. Those who do not become Gurmukh do not understand the Name; they die, and continue coming and going in reincarnation.

That body is said to be pure, in which the True Name abides. One whose body is imbued with the Fear of the True One, and whose tongue savors Truthfulness, is brought to ecstasy by the True Lord’s Glance of Grace. That person does not have to go through the fire of the womb again.

So chant the Name of the Lord, and preserve your virtue. Egotism and possessiveness are very enticing; egotistical pride has plundered everyone. Those who have forgotten the Name of the Lord are attached to affairs of duality. Attached to duality, they putrefy and die; they are filled with the fire of desire within. Those who are protected by the Guru are saved; all others are cheated and plundered by deceitful worldly affairs. Love dies, and affection vanishes. Hatred and alienation die. Entanglements end, and egotism dies, along with attachment to Maya, possessiveness and anger. Those who receive His Mercy obtain the True One.

The Gurmukhs dwell forever in balanced restraint. By true actions, the True Lord is met, and the Guru’s Teachings are found. Then, they are not subject to birth and death; they do not come and go in reincarnation. They are respected at the Lord’s Gate; they are robed in honor in the Court of the Lord.

From the True Lord came the air, and from the air came water. From water, He created the three worlds; in each and every heart He has infused His Light. The Immaculate Lord does not become polluted. Attuned to the Word, honor is obtained. One whose mind is contented with Truthfulness, is blessed with the Lord’s glance of grace.

                        SHREE GURU GEETA

Shree SkandaPurana-The dialogue between Shiva and Parvati .

The Guru, the Supreme Self, is my deity
Chant repeatedly to gain Guru’s grace
The Guru is the Divine cause of the Universe
Who leads us to the union with the Absolute through devotion.
All are indeed saved, Salutations to the Guru.
He on His own accord appears in numerous forms to uplift the world
The Guru who reveals THAT and who illuminates the flame of the lamp
The Guru, whose feet are the visible form of the imperishable.
One should meditate on that all-pervasive eternal Guru
I repeat the Guru Gita to realize the four goals of life:
Righteousness, wealth, pleasure and liberation
Salutations O God, Lord of Lords,
Higher than the Highest, teacher of the Universe.
O Lord! By which path can an embodied being become with Brahman, the Absolute Reality ?
This Question, which is a boon to uplift the world has not been asked before by anyone.
This knowledge is difficult to obtain in all the three worlds.
Listen, I will reveal it to you.
The Absolute is not different from the Guru
This is the Truth
This is the Truth
O Beautiful One
The ancient scriptures, religious books, texts of ancient legends, historical accounts and other writings
All these bring about in this world the downfall of those whose minds are deluded.
Sacrificial rites, vows, penance, charity, japa and pilgrimages, and indeed the like
Without knowing the Guru principle, people who engage in these are fools
The Guru is not different from the Conscious Self
This is True
This is True
There is no doubt.
Therefore, a wise one should indeed make an effort to attain the Guru.
The illusion that creates the world,  that veiled knowledge originating from ignorance resides in the body
He by whose light true knowledge arises is known by the word ‘Guru’.
All sins are purified by serving the Guru’s holy feet.
Thus the embodied soul becomes Brahman.
Out of compassion I tell you this
Remember the Guru’s holy feet while sprinkling water on your head.
Thus, one obtains the benefit of bathing in all holy waters.
With the power to dry up the mire of one’s sins by igniting the light of knowledge
The water of the Guru’s holy feet has the power to take one smoothly across the ocean of worldly existence
It destroys the root of ignorance and ends Karmas, the cause of rebirth
To attain knowledge and detachment, sip the water of the Guru’s feet
Take a sip of the water of the guru’s feet, and eat food that has been left by the Guru.
Constantly meditate on the Guru’s form, and always repeat the Guru mantra.
The holy water of his feet is the Ganges
The Guru is the Lord of the universe
He is indeed Brahma, the Savior
The water of the Guru’s feet is the holy center Gaya
And he is the holy banyan tree Akshaya
He is the most sacred Prayaga (the confluence of three holy rivers)
Salutations again and again to the Guru
Always remember the Guru’s form
Constantly repeat the Divine Name given by the Guru
Always follow the Guru’s command
Think of nothing other than the Guru
The Supreme Knowledge that lies on the Guru’s tongue can be realized through His grace
Always meditate on the Guru, just as a virtuous wife constantly thinks of her husband.
Your stage in life, your caste, your reputation, and increasing your well being
Abandoning thoughts of all these, think of nothing other than the Guru
Those who think of nothing else but Me easily attain the Supreme State
Therefore, strive to the utmost to pay homage to the Guru
In the three worlds, god-demons, snake-demons, and others proclaim
That the knowledge lying on the tongue of the Guru is obtained only through devotion to the Guru
The Syllable ’Gu’ is darkness and the syllable ‘ru’ is said to be light
Swallowing the darkness of ignorance, that Guru is indeed, without doubt that Supreme Knowledge
The first syllable ‘Gu’ represents the illusory principles such as Maya
The second syllable ‘ru’ is the supreme knowledge that destroys the illusion of Maya.
Thus the Guru’s state is the highest, difficult even for the gods to attain
Surely for all, there is no truth higher than the Guru
A seeker should pay homage to the Guru and dedicate one’s own life to Him
With action, mind and speech a seeker should continually serve the Guru
Having offered a full prostration, Salutation in the Guru’s presence without reserve
One’s body, senses, and Prana energy should be dedicated to the True Guru
One’s own life and all other things should be dedicated to the Guru
The body is filled with germs, worms, waste matter, foul smelling urine and feces
Made of Phlegm, blood, skin and flesh, and ultimately reduced to ashes,
Do not withhold from the Guru this body
Souls climbing the tree of the mundane world and falling into the ocean of Hell
All are indeed saved, Salutations to Shree Guru
The Guru is Brahma
The Guru is Vishnu
The Guru is  Lord Shiva
The Guru is indeed ParaBrahman.
Salutations to Shree Guru
Thus, for true understanding of worldly existence, I offer Salutations to Shree Guru
By whose reality the world is real, by whose light it is illuminated
Salutations to that Shree Guru
Who is the only cause of the Universe; the bridge to cross the ocean of worldly existence
Who is the Master of all knowledge;
Salutations to that Guru
Applying the Collyrium stick of knowledge, on one who is blinded by the darkness of ignorance.
By whom the eyes are opened, Salutations to that Shree Guru
You are my father
You are my mother
You are my brother
And My God
Thus, for true understanding of worldly existence,
I offer Salutations to Shree Guru
By whose reality the world is real, by whose light it is illuminated
By whose joy people are joyous,
Salutations to that Shree Guru
By whose existence the world exists, who shines through the form of Sun
By whose love sons and others are dear to us
Salutations to that Shree Guru
Who illuminates the world, by whom the mind cannot illumine
Who illuminates the waking, dreamy and the deep sleep states
Salutations to that Shree Guru
By whose knowledge the world will no longer be perceived to be divided by differences
Whose only form is truth.
Salutations to that Shree Guru
He who thinks he knows not -knows
He who thinks he knows – knows not
Whose thinking has no other thoughts but those of the Absolute,
Salutations to that Shree Guru
Who appears as the form of this universe of which He is the cause
Whose form is both the cause and  effect,
Salutations to that Shree Guru
All this Universe appears in various forms, but there is no difference in Him from anything
It is merely a play of cause and effect,
Salutations to that Shree Guru
Whose two Lotus feet remove the pain
Who is always the protector of calamities
I Salute to that Shree Guru
If Shiva is angry, the Guru saves you
But if the Guru is angry, surely Shiva cannot save you
Therefore with every effort, take refuge in Shree Guru
I salute the Guru’s two feet, which are within the reach of speech, thought and contemplation
They have different lusters-white and red, represents  Shiva and Shakti and are the nature of the Highest
The Syllable  ‘Gu’ is that which transcends all attributes and the syllable ‘Ru’ is that which is without form
The Guru is said to be the One who bestows the state that is beyond attributes and form
Without three eyes, yet the Guru is Shiva, the witness of all
Without four arms, He is Vishnu
Without four faces, He is Brahma
This is said of Shree Guru, O Dear One
I have made this Salutation with folded hands to increase the ocean of the Guru’s compassion
That Guru by whose grace a being is liberated from this manifold worldly existence
The Supreme form of the Shree Guru is nectar to one having the eye of discrimination
The unfortunate cannot perceive it, just as the blind cannot see the sunrise
In that direction in which Shree Guru’s two feet rest,
In that direction one shall offer salutations with devotion every day. O dear One
To that direction the wise always offer a handful of flowers humming with the bees.
Where the Sovereign Guru, the eternal witness of the drama of the rise and dissolution of this Universe awake
What is the use of practicing for a long time the breath exercise that are difficult and bring disease?
These hundreds of various breath and other exercises are painful and difficult to master
When that Shakti of grace arises, the powerful breath immediately stills of its own accord.
To attain this spontaneous and natural state constantly serve that One Guru
To contemplate the form of One’s own Guru is to contemplate infinite Shiva
To repeat the Guru’s name is to repeat the name of the infinite Shiva
Even a few particles from the guru’s feet on the ocean of worldly existence forma bridge across the ocean
This Lord, this Guru, we worship
On receiving the Guru’s Grace, one should give up the great ignorance.
Salutations to that revered highest Guru for this attainment of the object of desire
The Guru’s Lotus feet, which destroy the raging fires of worldly existence,
The Guru’s glance creates all worlds, and makes everything flourish completely
That glance is the staff –like central pillar supporting the stage of all the three worlds
Showering nectar with compassion, it is the aggregate of all principles of creation
That glance creates all rules of discipline
It is Sat Chit Ananda- Truth, Consciousness and Bliss
May the Divine Glance of the Guru always dwell upon me.
In the same way that gold is purified in fire, with intellect shining like a flame, O dear One,
Thus I consider this the greatest of mantras to have been purified
Day and night let it protect from death
The Guru Principle moves and moves not; It is far and it is near; It is inside everything and it is also outside everything
The Guru knows:
I am unborn
I am undecaying
I am without beginning or end
I am unchangeable
I am Consciousness and Bliss
I am smaller than the small
I am greater than the great
I am beyond all primeval things
I am everlasting, self-luminous and taintless
I am pure Supreme space; immovable; blissful and imperishable
By the four sources of knowledge- the Vedas; direct perception; sacred historical texts and inference
One should discern the Guru’s spiritual power and always remember the Guru.
I tell you of whom contemplation should be practiced, One of great intelligence
I see the piety that now resides in you All-pervasive in the form of the entire sphere of this universe
Constituting animate and inanimate objects
By whom that state is revealed,
Salutations to that Shree Guru
The Guru’s Lotus feet are adorned with the wisdom crest jewels of all the Vedas
Who is the Sun that causes spiritual truths to bloom as the lotus of Vedanta
Salutations to that Shree Guru
By whose remembrance knowledge arises spontaneously
Who indeed is all attainments
Salutations to that Shree Guru
Consciousness, eternal, peaceful, beyond the sky, stainless
Beyond the primordial sound,
Beyond the Ultimate point
Beyond the manifestation of this world
Salutations to that Shree Guru
Immovable, movable and indeed also animate and inanimate
By whom this entire world is pervaded,
Salutations to that Shree Guru
Firmly established in the power of knowledge and adorned with the garland of the principles of creation
Who gives worldly fulfillment as well as spiritual salvation
Salutations to that Shree Guru
Who burns all the acquired karmas of countless births
By imparting the power of self-knowledge
Salutations to that Shree Guru
There is no principle higher than the Guru, no austerity greater than service to the Guru
There is no truth greater than this knowledge
Salutations to that Shree Guru
The merit gained by bathing and similar activities in all the holy waters of the seven seas is not hard to obtain from one thousandth of one drop of the water from the Guru’s feet
If Hari is angry the Guru saves you
But if the Guru is angry no one can save you
Therefore with every effort one should take refuge in Shree Guru
Indeed, the Guru is the whole Universe, consisting of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva
There is nothing higher than the Guru therefore one should worship the Guru
Through devotion to the Guru, one obtains knowledge as well as wisdom
There is nothing higher than the Guru who is worthy of being meditated on by those who follow the path of the Guru
Nothing exists which is higher than Him
The Vedas indeed describe Him as “not this, not this ”
With mind and speech, one should indeed always pay homage to the Guru
By the favor of Guru’s grace, Brahma , Vishnu and Shiv become capable of creation, sustenance and destruction only through service to the Guru
Gods, Kinnaras, gandharvas, ancestors, yakshas and even sages do not know the proper way of serving the Guru.
Due to great ego and pride even those equipped with the power of austerity revolve in the hollow of the vortex of worldly existence, like pots tied on a water pot wheel.
Even Gods, Gandharvas, Yakshas and Kinneras are not liberated
Seers and all Siddhas are not liberated if they turn their face away from the service to the Guru.
O great Goddess, listen to the method of meditation on the Guru which grants all joy
Which always brings happiness and gives worldly fulfillment as well as liberation
I remember Shree Guru, who is Supreme Brahman
I speak of Shree Guru who is Supreme Brahman
I bow to the Shree Guru who is Supreme Brahman
I worship Shree Guru who is Supreme Brahman
The bliss of Brahman, bestower of the highest joy
Who is the Absolute
Who is the form of knowledge
Who is beyond duality, all pervasive  like the sky
And the object of the great Upanishadic statements “Thou are That” and others.
He is One, eternal, pure and steady, the witness of all thoughts
He is beyond all feelings and ways of mind and body and is free from the three principles of manifestation
To that true Guru, I bow
Eternal and pure, beyond perception, without form and without taint
Eternal knowledge, consciousness and bliss, to that Guru Brahman, I know
One should meditate on the treasure house of abundant grace
who is bliss
who exudes delight
who is cheerful
whose own nature is knowledge and
who has awareness of his own self
who is Lord of Yogas
who is adorable
The physician for the diseases of worldly existence
I always bow to that Shree Guru
In who creation, sustenance, dissolution, concealment and grace
In whom these five types of Universe functions are constantly revealed, to that one I bow
In the morning, reciting the Divine name one should think of the Guru and recite his name
There is nothing greater than the Guru, nothing greater than the guru
Having meditated on Guru in this manner knowledge arises by itself
Thus, one should feel –I am liberated by the grace of the true Guru
One should nevertheless purify the mind by following the path shown by the Guru
Whatever transcient things are ascribed to the Self, one should discard them all
The essential nature of everything is worthy of being known
It is said that the mind is knowledge because knowledge is obtained through the mind
One should consider knowledge is identical with the object of knowledge
There is no other second path
One who speaks ill of the Guru, that one falls in to the most dreadful hell and remains there as long as  the Sun and Moon shine
As long as the body lasts, even up to the end of the period of time up to the end of the universe, one should remember the Guru.
One should never forsake the Guru, even if he behaves in a self-willed manner.
Wise disciples should not ever at all speak egoistically
And should never tell a lie, ever at all, before the Guru
Having spoken to the Guru rudely or egoistically or having won arguments with the guru
One would be born as a demon in a region of a water less wilderness
If one is cursed by sages, snake-demons or even Gods Or also from fear of the time of death,
the Guru protects him
Surely, gods and others are powerless, and sages are also powerless
Being cursed by the Guru, they are soon destroyed .
There is no doubt.
The King of Mantras "Guru” is composed of two letters ‘gu’ and ‘ru’
According to meaningful words expounding the ancient scriptures and traditional code of law,
The guru is actually the highest state of reality
Even though they may not know the Vedas and Smritis, the devoted servants of the Guru are indeed called the Sanyasis(Swamis)
The others are merely wearing the clothes of Sanyasi.
The Brahman that is eternal without form, without attributes, imparting the highest knowledge
The imperceptible knowledge that everything is Brahman is imparted just as one lamp lights another lamp
Through  the gift of the Guru’s grace, one should perceive the joyous self
By this Path of the Guru, knowledge of one’s Self arises
Beginning from Brahma to a blade of grass, of the nature of the highest being
To that Guru who is everything immovable and movable
Who is the form of this world, I bow
I always bow to the guru, who is truth; consciousness and bliss
Who is beyond all differences
Who is eternal, perfect, without form,
Without attributes and who is established in His own Self
The Guru who is higher than the highest, who always bestows bliss, should be meditated upon.
Seated in the center of the space of the heart shining like a pure crystal
Just as the appearance of an image of a crystal is seen  in a mirror,
So also Bliss, in the form of Consciousness, is reflected in the Self
Thus ” I am That ” indeed
While meditating  on the Guru in the heart who is the form of Consciousness,
Listen,  I shall speak to you of that feeling which arises there
Beyond perception, beyond understanding and without name or form
Without sound, that one should knowas the nature of Brahman, O Parvati
Just as there is fragrance in flowers, camphor and other things by their very nature
And just as cold and heat and other things are such, so also is Brahman eternal, by its very nature
Having become aware that he himself is like Brahman, one may live anywhere
Thus his meditation becomes like that of a larva becoming a bee
Practicing meditation on the Guru in that manner, one himself would become one with Brahman
In this, there is no doubt that one is liberated in Pinda (kundalini Shakti), Pada (Hamsa) and Rupa (Bindu)
What is beyond the Rupa?
The pure One
They are liberated in the Pinda
They are liberated in the Pada
They are liberated in the Rupa
Those who are liberated in the Rupatita (beyond form) are definitely liberated, there is no doubt.
Oneself becoming one with everything, a person should perceive the highest Truth
Nothing else is higher than the highest
All this world is without any separate abode
Having obtained its perception, devoid of all attachments,
One should remain solitary, free from desires, and tranquil by His grace
Whether as attained or not attained , whether great or small
It should always be enjoyed indeed without desires and with a contented mind
The all-knowing state is that in which the embodied soul becomes one with everything
So say the wise men
Then ever-blissful and always tranquil, he rejoices wherever he may be
Wherever he lives indeed that place becomes an abode of merit
Goddess, I have described to you the characteristics of a liberated person
O Goddess, I have given you the teachings according to the path of the Guru, which grants liberation
I have also fully explained to you devotion  to the Guru and meditation on Him
I shall now tell you that which may be accomplished by this revelation of the Guru Gita
O One of greatest understanding, O Goddess,
It is for the welfare of people, one should not link of it for worldly purposes
By working for worldly gain, those who lack knowledge sink into the ocean of worldly existence
Whereas a knower of Truth considers all the actions he does to be non- action
If one nevertheless reads and hears this Guru Gita with the feeling of devotion,
And having written it down, one should also give it to others, all this will bear fruit
O Goddess I have told you the pure Truth in the form of the Guru Gita
Indeed, One should always repeat it to destroy the disease of worldly existence.
Even one letter of the Guru Gita is the highest mantra
One should repeat it
All other various mantras are not worth even a sixteenth part of it
Surely by repeating the GuruGita one obtains endless rewards
It destroys all sins and ends all poverty
It removes the fear of time and death
 And destroys all misfortunes
It takes away the fear of spirits, demons, ghosts, thieves and tigers
It removes all great diseases and gives prosperity and powers
Also the ability to captivate and control adversities
Indeed one should always repeat it oneself
Repeating the GuruGita on a seat of black deer skin brings the attainment of knowledge
On a tiger skin it begets the splendor of liberation
On a seat of Kusha grass, one attains the direct experience of knowledge
Sitting there, O goddess, One should repeat it with a single pointed mind
One should repeat the GuruGita facing North if one desires peace, facing East for the power to control
It is said that one should face south to destroy evil things and face West to acquire wealth
Captivating all beings, the repetition of the GuruGita would bring liberation from bondage
It would make one dear to the King of Gods and would bring control over all the worlds
It would give the power to paralyze all hostile beings, and it would increase good qualities
It would also destroy the fruits of bad actions and would give the fruits of good deeds
It would accomplish unfinished tasks
It removes the fear of harm from the nine planets
It destroys bad dreams and indeed gives the fruit of good dreams
It always bestows peace in all respects, grants a good son to a barren woman
It averts woman’s widowhood and always brings good fortune
It increases longevity, health, affluence, children and grand children
If a woman who is a widow were to repeat it without desire, she would obtain salvation
But if she repeats it with a desire for non-widowhood, she will not become a widow in her next life time
It destroys all miseries , fears and obstacles and removes curses
It puts an end to all hurdles and grants the four goals of life : righteousness, wealth, pleasure and liberation
What so ever, what so ever desires one entertains, that he definitely obtains
The GuruGita is the wish fulfilling cow that grants what is desired
It is the wish-fulfilling tree for what is imagined
It is the wish-fulfilling gem for what is thought of
It brings every sort of good luck
One whose goal is liberation should repeat it regularly
He would attain the splendor of liberation without doubt, this is Truth
In a pure, clean place whether daily or for a certain number of times
One should repeat it with detachment and with silence in mind
A son (close disciple) of the Guru, even if a fool; , is better than one who is learned and intelligent
It cannot be otherwise
He achieves the fruit of all good actions such as initiation, vows and penance
To wash away the impurities of the worldly life and to become free from the snares of trans-migratory existence
A knower of Truth always bathes in the waters of the GuruGita
He who has thus purified himself  is truly the Guru
He is always the highest knower of true Brahman
All his dwelling places are holy, there is no doubt
He is  holy and pure in all respects
Whatever region or dwelling he lives in , naturally that dwelling place is indeed inhabited by the multitude of Gods
While sitting, lying down, or standing or moving around or even speaking, riding a horse, sitting on an elephant and even when asleep or awake
Indeed a wise one is always pure through recitation of the GuruGita
By merely having his darshan and seeing him, one is not born again
Just as water merges in the Ocean; Just as milk in milk; Just as ghee in ghee
Just as the space in the broken pot merges with the space outside
So the individual self merges in the Supreme Self
The wise being delights in Oneness, wherever he may be, day and night
A wise person, fully liberated, always lives in this manner
One who makes every effort to serve him  wholeheartedly and with deep devotion is relieved of all doubts and  becomes liberated, O Parvati
Both worldly enjoyments and liberation comes to him
Saraswati, the Goddess of speech and learning, dwells on the tip of his tongue
By this repetition of the GuruGita all living beings do indeed obtain all powers, worldly enjoyments and liberation, there is no doubt
It is true, it is true, again, it is true
The knowledge revealed by me is worthy of being followed
There is nothing like the Guru Gita . It is True. It is True O Beautiful One
One God; One Religion; One Faith is the highest austerity
There is nothing else, higher than the Guru
There is no Truth greater than the Guru
Blessed is the devoted disciple’s mother
Blessed is the devoted disciple’s father
Blessed is the devoted disciple’s family and ancestry
Blessed is the very earth on which he walks
O Goddess, such devotion to the Guru is extremely rare.
The body, senses, vital breath, wealth, close relatives and distant relatives, mother, father and the entire family,  O Goddess, the Guru is all this, there is no doubt
Since the beginning of the world, their millions of births- mantra repetitions, vows, austerities and actions
All these bear fruits, O Goddess only when the Guru is pleased
Even with the power of learning and austerities those persons are unfortunate who do not serve the Guru
This is True. This is True O beautiful One
Even Brahma , Vishnu and Mahasiva are unfortunate without the Guru
Absorption in the Guru is the highest place of pilgrimage. Other places of pilgrimage are meaningless
The abode of all places of pilgrimage, O Goddess, is indeed the big toe of the Guru’s feet
By reciting the Guru Gita one would attain success and endless rewards abandoning all means of action and degraded places
Repetition on an improper asana seat bears the same fruit as mean actions
Repeating the GuruGita while on a journey in a battle or in danger of being harmed by the enemy one obtains victory. At death it brings liberation
All actions, in every case, of the Guru’s son  are accomplished
This secret should not be disclosed –that which is revealed to you by me
It should be well guarded with every effort
I have revealed it to you since you are dear to me
This secret should not be imparted even mentally
I speak the Truth I speak the Truth
To one whose mind is fully matured and who is endowed with faith and devotion, this secret should be told O Goddess ! You are always my beloved Self
To a person without devotion, a cheat, a rogue, hypocrite or heretic
Even mentally, one should not impart the GuruGita ever
The only mantra that rescues one from the ocean of worldly existence
The perfected mantra worshiped by sages and Gods such as Brahma and others
The mantra puts an end to privations, miseries, and the disease of trans-migratory existence
Removing fears, I bow to the greatest mantra of the Guru

Let this be an offering at the feet of Shree Gurudev
(God is the embodiment of Bliss. Therefore being his part the individual soul naturally desires only Bliss)

                           Babaji’s  message to mankind
          From Oneness to Wholeness
All seers and prophets longed for oneness of mankind . Their teachings were based on Oneness of mankind and were inspiring during their times and today as well. Sant Nirankari Mission promotes the spirit of the same oneness so that it is established everywhere globally .
With the theme of oneness, Nirankari International Samagam (NIS) was held in Birmingham (UK) in August 2012 . Three years before, similar event on Harmony was held in Symphony Hall. Whether you call it Harmony or you mention it as Oneness, we are moving towards the same common goal to bring about unity in mankind because otherwise we are seeing so many divisions all around .The world is divided into  various regions . There is so much racialism; there is so much communalism. People are fighting with each other. The more the prophets wanted that mankind should be united, the more this mankind is in fragmentation. So this effort to establish that state of mind and thought which saints had, lots of efforts have to be made towards it.
The state of affairs in the world is such that despite being the children of the same Almighty God , we the members of  this ‘Global family ‘ are a divided lot . The dividing walls created by man have become the cause of conflict among mankind. There are discords within individuals, societies and nations. But in reality it is the man himself who is the loser in the process. We may consider man as a unit, a family or for that matter a society, a nation or the whole world, but there is obviously a discord amongst men, and that is where maximum damage has been caused to man himself. That is why teachings of seers and prophets were such as would  bridge the gap between man and man leading to refinement amongst men , families , society and then nations , which would finally lead to peace and harmony in the whole world . Therefore,  it is important for man to realize that  he should change his course and move in that direction which would be commendable  and our existence in the world is hailed.  God has made man in his own image so that such a laudable form of humanity can be established on this earth.
Now we have to cover the distance between man and man so that the ‘Truth’ could be established n everywhere since it is the requirement of the entire human race. “One in all and all in One” that’s what is to be realized to awaken the pristine human values . It is imperative that concept of Oneness becomes mission for the people of the whole world and feeling of ‘wholeness’ is inculcated along with the feeling of ‘oneness’ reaching the state of- “Finally we are one family”.

                          Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj

                                Saakar Satguru  is Nirankar
Nirankar blessed third successive generation of Baba Avtar Singh for being the spiritual leader and path guider for the common men as on the day of 23rd February 1954 at Delhi, Rajmata Kulwant Kaur, wife of third Nirankari Guru Baba Gurbachan Singh ji, have given birth to male child, who was named as "Hardev" and went to become the spiritual master for millions and millions. Early childhood of the kid was cared by grand parents Nirankari Baba Avtar Singh & Jagatmata Budhwanti Ji, both of them not only showered their worldly but also spiritual knowledge & powers upon the young Hardev, hence the growing kid at very early age learned about serving the humanity and guiding the masses on the roads of being unanimous with Nirankar - the unborn un shaped God.
After being taken the elementary education Hardev was send to Rosary Public School at Nirankari Colony Delhi and in 1963 to Yadvendra Public School - a residential school at Patiala. During the days of schooling beside being the scholar student Hardev developed an interest for photography, mountaineering, horse riding & skill -full vehicle driving and passed High school examination in 1969.
While taking college education at Delhi University Hardev have shown a keen interest in Sangat & Seva and in 1971 joined the "Nirankari seva Dal" as primary member by this time his humility has made him famous as "Bhola Ji" [innocent person]. This was 1975 which shaped him as friend, philosopher and guided for the masses as he organized "Youth Fourm" focusing on promoting truthful & simple living, service with devotion & love.
In the same year during the Annual Nirankari Sant Samagam at Delhi he got married with Sawinder Ji [Born on 12-01-1957] daughter of Smt. Madan Ji and Shri Gurumukh Singh Ji [native of farrukhabad U. P.] in a very simple ceremony. After the tragic death of Sat guru Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji on April 24, 1980, Bhola ji started looking after the Nirankari sangat and asked devotees to show tolerance in accepting verdict of destiny with peace and calm of mind.
Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj ruled out even the remotest thought of vengeance saying that 'it would go contrary to what Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji lived and sacrificed his life for'. He exhorted devotees to carry on his message of compassion, goodwill, love and Truth and pray for the welfare of one and all. The result was quite instantaneous and healthy. Nirankaris remained non- violent even in the face of serious provocations from miss-guided fanatics and extremists.
Baba Hardev Ji took the expansion of peace, love, universal brotherhood and Nirankari ideology as personal commitment hence an extensive tour was planned for various Indian cities and abroad as in views of Baba ji this will also work as the medicine for the Nirankari wounds caused due to tragic death of Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji.
Today after 28 years, the foundation stone laid down by Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji is most beautiful humanity serving building in the form of Sant Nirankari Mission and this is all the way humble nature and co operative attitude of Baba Hardev Ji, working as the instrumental for this grand success. As per the will of Baba Hardev Singh Ji various centers of Nirankari Mission in all parts of globe are organizing "Blood Donation Camps" on "Manav Ekta Divas". Decentralization is yet another success of Baba Hardev Singh Ji, today Nirankari mission have 24 sectors in Delhi and country is divided into 36 zones, this has increased participation of devotees in the activities of the mission. Considering the high pollution of Delhi Baba Hardev Singh Ji decided to build "Santokh Sarovar Complex" with 5-acre reservoir of neat and clean water and another 20 acres of lush green lawns with rows of beautiful flower plants.
                                                                   ----
From Darkness to Light

O’God! From untruth, lead me to Light
From death, lead me to Immortality Peace, Peace, Peace.
                                 (Bridhardanyaka Upanishad 1:3-28.)
God is the Supreme Light. The same Divine Light manifests itself in the human form as the True Master.
Baba Avtar Singh Nirankari said in one of his Sermons: “A blind can neither see himself nor the sighted ones; But a sighted person can see both – the blind as well as the sighted.”
The difference between the light and darkness is as vast as the void between the earth and the sky. The distance can be abridged by True Master, who bestows the divine light while the darkness vanishes then and there.
Light and darkness cannot co-exist.  Light symbolizes truth, peace and happiness and the darkness depicts ignorance, gloom and obscurity.
The darkness of ignorance refers to a state of mind in which one cannot see a person or an object. One falters and fumbles at every step because of the darkness all around. He mistakes a rope for a snake and is scared of it. The saints say the darkness of ignorance is due to the lack of knowledge of God. Those who are devoid of the eternal Truth (Light of LIFE) are prone to evil-doing, sin and suffering. They do ignoble acts and commit all types of heinous crimes.
The enlightened ones lead a simple, noble, pure and purposeful life, wishing well of and doing good to all.
Most people remain stuck up in the dark ditch of ignorance. Only the rare few opt for the path of truth, love, light, purity and nobleness. None can tide over this darkness, this state of being blind-folded, and thus ignorance on his own. Only the True Master bestows the divine light and pulls out men from the dark dungeon. One may have a lamp, the oil in it, and the wick, but it cannot be lit without a matchstick, a lighter or a lit lamp. Likewise, the mind shrouded by darkness of ignorance can be enlightened only be the Enlightened One, the True Master.
One may possess all riches, wealth and bounties but he cannot be satiated without the Light celestial. Men without this divine light are just like unlit lamps. The saints have always been illuminating the minds of the ignorant people and dispelling the darkness from the world.
This noble task is being done in the world today by the Nirankari Mission under the spiritual guidance of Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj (Nirankari Baba).
Saints love the Divine Light and the enlightened ones, but they have no hatred for those who are without light, the intuitively blind. They pray and inspire others to shed ego and arrogance, and receive the light and learn to live in the light. The saints’ sacred task is to spread light in the darkness all over the world. The True Master holds the treasure-trove of this Divine Light and his aim is to enlighten the minds of the millions and extricate them from the darkness. This Light celestial never fades, flickers and disappears, but remains glowing and glittering perpetually. This is the light of God.
How unfortunate that wearing the human cloak, man behaves like a brute, a devil, causing death and destruction and breaking human dwellings of the innocent for the sake of selfish gains. Entangles in the glamour-world of materialism, man follows the path of sin and suffering leading to the hell. He wastes the precious human life and departs from the world empty handed,
left with nothing but repentance at last to face the pangs of
repeated births and deaths.
Those are the fortunate few, who have received this Divine Light from the True Master and they are enjoying everlasting peace, bliss and salvation. Their life has undergone a revolution from darkness to light.
                       --------------------------
                    KNOWING GOD
 “Feeling Thy presence
 Feeling Thy grace
Feeling Thy radiance
You are my source of faith and strength
You are my path and destination
And I am always connected to You
Nothing of me and everything of You
Lead me higher
Lead me deeper
Lead me beyond
Lead me to You
There cannot be any peace without God, and no God – realization is possible without the grace of the True Master.
God created the Universe – the earth, the sky, the water, the sun, the moon and the stars, flora and fauna and millions of species on earth, under water and in air. Finally God also created man in His own image.
So, the man has been considered as crown of the Creation. The animals, the mammals, the insects, the birds and all other creatures are of lower nature. Only a human being has been bestowed with the consciousness, the wit and wisdom, and the mind with which to discern the Truth from the Untruth, and choose between the good and the evil, the light and the darkness. Hence there is an in-depth close relationship between God and man.
With a blurred vision and eyes of the mind closed due to the ignorance about his real self and the Ultimate Reality – God, the man of the world who is stuck up in the muddy materialism looks for peace, comfort and happiness through material objects, but fails to attain the same.
The saints and sages have unanimously made it clear that God is the ocean of peace and divinity. There cannot be any peace without God, and no God – realization is possible without the grace of the True Master.
Unfortunately, the Man forgets God, the Creator, and caught up in the glamour of materialism, and detracted from the main aim of human life, keeps on working day and night beautifying the body, amassing wealth by fair and foul means to an unlimited extent, performing domestic, social, political and multifarious duties and spends his entire life in the pursuit of worldly objects, losing the game of life for the sake of materialistic gains. He sacrifices the life of happiness in favor of life of profit.
Even if a saint talks about God and wishes to convey the message of the Truth, the worldling ignores the clarion call, the voice of Truth and says that he has no time for this
The great Gurus and the prophets advise the Man to act wisely by telling him not to remain engrossed in the worldly affairs and try to achieve the higher goal of life i.e. God realization, for which he got this precious human life.
The religious and spiritual aspect of life is most vital and of utmost importance, which is neglected by man. Some noble people opt for search of the omnipresent God; they go to the temple/mosque or the church, listen the discourse, offer prayers, do meditation and perform rituals and various other acts of austerity and penance, which never lead to the Divine Destination.
It is the natural instinct of Man to know, to find, to search and to discover about every person, object and environment around him. Most part of the world has been explored and the scientists have made several discoveries and inventions for peace and comfort of man. However, they have not discovered or invented any drug to wipe out the malice, hatred and pollution of mind. The Yogis, and the self-styled Sadhus perform and prescribe rites and rituals, including reading and recitation of the Scriptures, spiritual exercises and gymnastics but all this short of the Divine Knowledge cannot lead to Divine Destination and merger of soul with God.
The visible world is known to everybody in some measure, but the Ultimate Reality, the Eternal Truth, the invisible formless Spirit of All – pervading God cannot be visualized and known to anybody without the kind grace of the perfect True Master. The saints tell the people of the world that there is no need to go to the forest in search of the Omnipresent God. God is with you, all around you, self-existent, present everywhere, in all directions and all at places even beyond everywhere, in all directions
and all at places even beyond the earth and the skies.
The great Gurus and prophets discovered the Ultimate Reality God, the abode of soul, the invisible formless one by  the grace of their respective perfect Gurus. After having seen and perceived God in His true glory, they took up the sacred task of revealing this Truth to the seekers all over the world.
As Jesus rightly said: The kingdom of God is at hand, and so it has been stated in other Scriptures that the face of Allah, God and Ram, the Omnipresent, can be unveiled to the sincere seekers by the perfect True Master.
There is no need to search God or engage in the discovery of the Omnipresent God. The true entity of God, the formless Spirit, pervading everywhere can be easily discovered, realized, perceived and seen with the eyes of the mind through the grace of the True Master. Only he can reveal the eternal God in no time to every sincere seeker at mere asking.
This is exactly what Nirankari Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj is doing in the present era. He is imparting the Divine Knowledge and revealing the Truth to every human being at mere asking, regardless of one’s caste, creed, color, diet, dress and culture, the country and the Continent, to which one belongs.
In all ages, as also in present era of science and technology, the need for Divine knowledge has always been reiterated by the great Gurus and the Saints, whose aim has always been to dispel the darkness of ignorance, to illuminate the minds of the millions, to dispense divine knowledge (Brahm – Gyan) and thereby to grant peace, bliss and salvation to every human being living in any part of the globe.
                                              ------
Put God First and be blessed

We see too many rich people who have miserable lives to believe that money can really make our life happy. It just can't.
God can make us happy, money can't.
God is love and you can't love without giving. You can give without loving, but you can't love without giving, so the greatest way we express the love of God to people is when we can be generous and kind to them with no agenda. That's when people see God, because that's what God is like.
“Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal, for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” - Bible
Generosity :There's something about generosity that creates a very sweet fragrance. When people give and there's nothing in it for themselves, they've just given unexpectedly to you, then there's something sweet about it. Generosity usually exposes greed. Generosity exposes selfishness! Generosity or giving, is the only way we can demonstrate the value we place on worldly wealth and to maintain our power over money.

God is concerned about our hearts, and what grips our heart. God does not need our money. God is interested in us.
He's interested in our welfare and our success in life. He wants us, each of us to succeed in fulfilling our destiny in life.
However there's competition for your heart. We need to make a choice between God and Mammon. No one can serve two masters, for either we'll hate one and love the other; we will be loyal to one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and Mammon. It's impossible to serve Mammon(greed of Wealth , worldly riches and assets, or coveting more. ), and to serve God
Greed is an inordinate desire - I need more. I'm not satisfied with what I have, I need more. You ask the question: how much is enough? The answer's always the same - a bit more. It wouldn't matter how wealthy you are, you ask how much is enough? A bit more. A bit more.
We know that God is invisible. We are made in His image. We are spirit beings. We're made for intimacy with God. We're made for relationship with God. We're made to love God, enjoy Him, and then live a life that reflects Him and serves Him. That's what we're designed for, so anything that competes with the place of God in our heart, is obviously going to have behind it some demonic spirit, some demonic power. So it says:
“ You can't serve God and Mammon. ”.
God and Mammon  long for our heart. God longs for our
heart, so that He can bless us. Mammon longs for our heart, so he can control us, and so we see that there's a conflict goes on between the two.
First thing is to recognize that there is a conflict. A person who's under the control of Mammon will live with other problems on their life. So Mammon is opposed to God. It's very clear, you can't serve two masters. So Mammon is an anti-God spirit. It's opposed to what God wants to do in our life,
Mammon is looking to take the place of God in our life. It's looking for slaves. If it can succeed in taking God's place in our heart, we will find ourselves serving Mammon, not God.
God  teaches us to break free of the control of money, and learn how to lean on Him and depend on Him, for this we have to make a change in lifestyle, and in heart , attitude. We have to learn to let go of all of the things we had valued so much out of ignorance , and learn to be thankful for this life time which enables us to know , love and unite with Him.

The biggest thing we learn is to be content, to trust God, and to become generous with what we do have. We celebrate our living  with what we have.
We have  realized that all that glitters isn't gold. In fact craving for material wealth puts us in bondage, We've learnt to be live in contentment as  the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Notice this - the love of money, not money itself. Money is not evil. It's that greed, that desire, that longing for it, which in the end actually gets a hold of our life . We live under the illusion that the love of money, is the love of a substitute for God. So when you love, or you have a substitute for God, that is the root of all many problems, and we don't realize just how much that gets a hold of us. The love of money is a root, see? So if there's a love of money, it means you have a fear of being without it, and it controls all the decisions you make. It's a spirit that creates fear, anxiety, dread, lust and greed in the heart. It causes  immense bitterness, immense grief, difficulties, hardships and pain .
Generally when people  are in need, they pray and seek God. When they get prosperous, they do not need Him, and other things take over. They are committing an unpardonable sin.         Actually we all have a need for God we are not aware of. We need his benevolent grace and blessings all the time. All times are good times under His shelter.
Let God heal our heart, bring us to a place of enlightenment. Number one step is to acknowledge where I'm at.
Number two, I need to come to the Lord with a repentant heart, say: God, I'm sorry I put my trust in these things.
And the third thing is, I need to honor God with my money, to bring His blessing over them.
Then adding comes into our life - adding means God's power or God's blessing comes on our life, and around your life, and things start to attract into us, that before you had to work and stress and sweat to get.
It is thus said : “ Seek first the kingdom of God ”
It implies putting God first, giving God the first place, giving God the first place, not the second or third or the last .
This is not a matter of law, or obligation, or duty. This is an issue of gratitude. We should always be grateful for what He has already given us. He has given us this wonderful opportunity to unite with Him .
Because God (Satguru) delivered us out of bondage. We used to live in the world in anxiety and debt and dread, we used to live coveting, we used to live in bondage and fear. We had all kinds of things going on in our minds , my money, and now God has
delivered us out of all of that bondage. Now we in a place of blessing.
The reason why we are in his blessing is because we put the Lord first.
That's it in a nutshell, so when you offer everything – meaning body , mind and wealth ( in thought ) to God, all the rest of what we have is now blessed. There's a blessing on it. We understand that we , in fact , belong to Him . He owns us . All we need to do is to express our desire to be owned by Him .We have to act in faith. This act of surrender redeems us .
The hard thing is to think that way, because we don't tend to think that way at all. But this is the principle, when we offer ourselves selflessly  to God, it puts our life under His blessing.
As the saying goes ; “If the first fruit is holy, then the root is holy, or the rest of it is holy.”
Our money can be holy or cursed, and it all depends on the place we give God in our money, simple.
When we consider wealth as His blessing, , it is sanctified.  The blessing of God comes upon it

When we live devoted to God  we will come to inherit the treasury of the Lord. The Lord Himself .
Now notice you see two words there:;we can thus either be ‘blessed or  cursed.’ You can't have them both - one or the other.

The choice is always ours :  either  we give ourselves voluntarily to  God’s service , which is true devotion ; or  to remain  cursed.

When we give it to Him whole heartedly  ,our body ,mind and wealth  are  blessed. Instead if we  hold it back, it's cursed.
When we put God first, and trust Him ; when we  place value on His willingness and ability to bless us ; when I trust God, as a generous provide , He will generously provide for my life. It's an issue of faith.
It is all about faith and gratitude . We are faithful when we honor Him by acknowledging His presence in our life , placing value on God;, trusting and feeling grateful  that He can actually provide better than I can provide for myself, and if I put Him first, I can then expect the blessings on everything that I do.
Now think about this. Abraham, in Genesis 14, remember Abraham had been blessed and become very wealthy, and

We should  desire that  our  total blessing and source to be in the Lord. Then we no longer live under pressure, stress and bondage. Things start to come towards us, instead of going away from us. We come into a place where there's a river of blessing.

Messengers of Truth

However secure it may be there is no meaning in staying      in the womb,
However secure it may be there is no meaning in remaining a seed in the bottle,
Growth is always beyond the  comfort zone ,
Transcending the old formation into new formation is Transformation.
“Arise, awake and rest not till the desired goal of God realization is achieved.”
The divine law is that none can be admitted in the Kingdom of God, if he does not carry with him the Divine Knowledge obtainable from the True Master. To become a man of God, the blessed one, the disciple has to be humble and polite, shed ego and arrogance before the True Master and request him to reveal the Truth (God). He can make you comprehend, realize, perceive and see the omnipresent God in his true formless form:
“O’ dear fellows, shed ego of body, mind and wealth and seek refuge of the True Master,
You can realize God, in a moment whom you have been searching here and there.”    (Avtar Bani-280)
The prophets and great Gurus gave a clarion call to the people that they should know and remember God. Their message to man is that they should endeavor to achieve the goal of life and should not remain stuck up with the materialistic pursuits. Human life is very precious and this is a golden opportunity to know one’s self, to know God-the Creator. However, Man is crazy after wealth, power, name and fame, youth, beauty and luxuries of life. He forgets the Great Giver, and does not bother for spiritual and moral values of life. All that he accumulates remains as dust in this world and nothing goes with him as he departs from the world. The saints give the valuable advice to man that even if he gains control over the whole world, it shall not be of any avail if he loses his own soul. “What will a person gain if he wins the whole world, But loses his own soul.”
“To be carnally minded is death,
To be spiritually minded is life and peace.”

“O’ man, why are you slumbering with the eyes of the mind closed?
Awake and accomplish the task (of knowing God) for which you came into this world.”     (Avtar Bani-167)

The great Gurus and saints belong to the whole universe, and not to any particular religion, region or country. Their message is universal, meant for the whole humanity. It is through their words of wisdom that the people can see the divine light and follow the path of truth and purity of mind and character. Those who translate into action the true teachings of the True Master, attain everlasting peace, bliss and salvation – the coveted goal of human life. It has been made amply clear that there can be no peace without God.
“In this world of tension and turmoil peace and tranquility would come by remembering God’s Name, Everybody would get comforting peace and solace by knowing and remembering God.”   (Avtar Bani-114)
The saints and the sages clarified that:
“Sleep, intake of food, procreation and fear from the mighty are the common characteristics among the human beings and the animals; Divine knowledge is the only distinguishing feature, which isolated men from the animal world.” (Bible)
Without knowledge of God, man is just like any other animal. Therefore, the saints told men to become true human beings, the angels of peace, love and universal brotherhood. The human life is incomplete, unsavory, barren and sheer waste if one does not endeavor to know God – the Creator, the Great Giver (Donor) of all boons and bounties. The aim of life can be fulfilled when the soul is united with God and it establishes an abiding link with God. Just as a drop stops its urge to become part of the Ocean on losing its separate identity as it mingles with the Ocean, likewise man feels satiated as the soul merges with the Super-Soul (God) with the kind grace of the True Master. On complete unison with God, the soul is at rest and the man enjoys peace, bliss and salvation.
Peace lies only in the lap of God, in the fellowship of saints and not in the worldly objects.
 “Peace cannot be attained by amassing wealth;
 Peace cannot be attained by watching dance and drama;     Peace cannot be attained by visiting distant countries for making money;
Peace lies in knowing and singing glory of God in the fellowship of saints.” (Adi Granth)
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”
The great Gurus and saints exhorted all men to leave aside all religious dogmas, rites, rituals, meditation and penance as these won’t help one to reach up to God.
Lord Krishna Said:
“Leave aside all other dharma and take refuge in Me alone
I shall absolve you of all sins and grant salvation, worry not.”
                                                                    (Gita-Chap. XVIII)
Man makes his life successful here and hereafter by paying heed to the words of the True master and treading the spiritual path with utmost discipline and obedience.
                                          ---
                 Know the God You Worship

“If you know God within this life, then it is good, But if you do not know Him, then it will be your greatest loss.”
(Kena Upanishad) Man without God is like a fish without water, a tree without the fruit, a flower without the fragrance and a bride (soul) without the Bridegroom (Supreme Being). The soul without God remains unsatisfied and cannot attain peace, bliss and salvation.
God created Man in his own image, in the likeness of God. Thus the man became the crown of the creation, because a human being only possesses the ability to choose between the Truth and the Untruth, the Right and the Wrong and also can know God.
There is a specific purpose of human life and that is to know and realize the omnipresent all-pervading spirit of God-the Father of all. The irony is that what man thinks himself to be, he is not; and what he really is, he knows not:
“O’ man you should know the light of God
  Of which you are the tiny spark;
You should realize the Supreme Being
  whose bounties you are enjoying.”
                                                         (Avtar Bani-231)
“Glorifying God without seeing him,
amounts to crying for the moon.
        Glorifying God without seeing Him,
Amounts to setting the water on fire.
                                                          (Avtar Bani – 144)
Man is not just a body consisting of the five elements (earth, water, fire, air and the sound). The sixth component i.e. soul within the physical frame is vital and the life most important as it propels the body to function so long as the soul pulsates within.
The prophets and Great Gurus enjoined upon all humans not to remain clung to the world of materialism but endeavor to achieve the aim of life for which they got this human birth.
“O’ Man you have got this human life,
This is a golden opportunity to meet God,
All other acts and endeavors are useless,
Seek fellowship of the saints and know God-the Formless.”
                                                           (Adi Granth-378)
‘Eat, Drink and be Merry’ is not the aim of life as understood by most people. The scriptures make it clear that it is essential for everybody to know God-the Creator, who has given us this gift of beautiful body and several boons and bounties. The need for knowing God has also been stressed by the saints and the sages.
“God is a spirit and only by the power of his Spirit
Can people worship whom as he really is.”
Without knowing God, Man continues to wander in wilderness, in the darkness of ignorance and loses the game of life. Such a life is barren, charmless and a sheer waste. How unfortunate that caught up in the world of materialism, man loses the game of life for the sake of material gains, knowing well that even a needle does not go with the man, as he departs from this world. As last he is left with nothing but repentance to undergo the pangs of death:
“He who sees Me (the Universal Self) present in all beings, and all beings existing within Me, never loses sight of Me, and I never lose sight of him.”            (Bhagwad Gita VI-30)
The importance of knowing God from the True Master has been
highlighted in Bhagwad Gita thus:
“I shall unfold to you in its entirety the divine wisdom
-knowledge of God in its absolute formless aspect
having known which nothing else remains yet to be known in this world.”                                                  (Gita VII-2)

                            True Master is  God
We must first of all know what God really is, who is the True Master and what is the role and relevance of the True Master in the process of God realization?
God can be seen, visualized and perceived through the grace of the True Master who gives the Third Eye to know God. So the True Master is indispensable as only He can reveal God and none else. There is no other way to realize God except through the kind grace of the True Master.
The holy scriptures clarify that such a blessed soul is God incarnate and that way he is unique, which means that he is
the only one, unequalled, having no like or equal.
The True Master is the embodiment of Divine Light, which he bestows upon the seekers. This is the distinguishing hallmark of the True Master. Those who repose faith in God and the True Master attain everlasting peace, bliss and salvation.
The True Master means the perfect Guru who is God personified and in whom the Almighty has placed Himself. He is unique and different from all other Gurus and Self-styled saints, who pose themselves to be the messengers and incarnations of God but virtually they are bankrupt so far as Divine knowledge is concerned. They are themselves engrossed in rites and rituals, penance and meditation and they prescribe the same to their disciples. They talk of God, narrate the legend and historical facts but they cannot reveal God. In other words they put their disciples on the track and ask them to keep on traveling in the form of repeating and reciting the Name of God, and perform various rituals for an indefinite period giving the false hope that they would reach the Divine Destination one day. This dream does not come true and they leave the world without enlightenment, without divine knowledge. In the Holy Bible such fake gurus and saints have called the false prophets and people have been cautioned not to get entrapped in their dragnet:
The True Master is the one on meeting whom one gets peace and bliss and the doubt and duality disappear, and one attains the ultimate goal of God-realization. The True Master is at one with the Infinite-God. The disciple gets spiritual emancipation from him and then he keeps on singing the glory of the True Master.
The distinguishing features and superb qualities of God are given in the holy books, so that we can recognize Him in his true glory as the True Master unveils the face of God.
The salient attributes of God are :
He is the Creator, the Sustainer and the Destroyer.
He is Formless, Shapeless, Colourless, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Pervading all, Self existent and Immortal.
God was, God is and God shall ever be.
He is hidden and cannot be seen with the external eyes.
Most people worship man-made gods and try to see God through the visible objects, idols and deities, forms and manifestations i.e. Nature.
This is not seeing God in His true glory, in His entirety and, to be more exact, in the formless form – the All-pervading Spirit, which is known only to the enlightened ones, the saints, who can reveal God to the seekers of the Truth. No amount of rites and rituals, penance, meditation and spiritual exercise can lead to God realization. The True Master holds the key to the divine door of the Kingdom of God .
The perfect Guru forgives the sins. He is kind and compassionate and has unbounded love for the people. His sacred task is to reveal the Truth (God) and to save the evil doers. His will prevails and whatever he says and does is ordained by God, and it all comes true here and in the next world.
The Guru is the mediator between God and Man and he is the Saviour who can grant salvation. The True Master is indispensable in the process of God-realization. The True Master is the Son of God, the Messenger of God and he appears on earth to redeem the sinners. He comes to restore harmony,
peace and blessedness. He is the True Master and sole Proprietor of the Treasure trove of Divinity.
His sacred task is to dispense the knowledge of God to all human beings without any discrimination on account of caste, creed, colour and nationality and without regard to the qualifications and disqualifications of the seeker.
Many things are achieved by prayer and faith in God. The faith must be in the perfect True Master, and God Nirankar, and not in the visible objects, idols and man-made gods.

“Universal therapist ”
A  PRECIOUS GIFT -  CONSCIENCE  BASED CHARACTER
“There is no sin as great as living  in ignorance and there is no sin greater than letting others live in ignorance.  ”
It is universally acknowledged that when wealth is lost  , nothing is lost , when health is lost something is lost; when character is lost everything is lost .
Gurubachan Singh ji Maharaj made a memorable statement during postillations at a congregation  in 1980 :
“ Death of the body is not such a great loss as the death of conscience ”
Death of conscience is a virus that spreads to head and heart . It brings with it  greed and graft, which destroys all human values , displaces truth with falsehood , right with wrong and innocence with crime . Being infectious  , it acquires the dimension of an epidemic. Although the virus may not cause physical death , yet it causes the death of all that is good and virtuous.
The LATIN ADAGE – Man unto man is a wolf is very true .
From the North pole to the South Pole  the whole human society seems  like a seething cauldron .
Wrong connections: Feeling the pulse of the ailing and erring humanity ,he stressed  that since man is an amalgam of the physical body and the divine soul ; for a harmonious and blissful life , the soul needs to be united with God as much as the body needs the requisite material elements for its sustenance .
Unfortunately , considering materialism as the be – all and end – all  of life , man has connected his soul to the unending material  desires and his body, to the religious rites and rituals . These wrong connections create short circuiting , leading to panic and chaos . Babaji, therefore ,  gave a clarion call to man to surrender to and always  be in union with the omnipresent , omnipotent and omniscient God.
God is always at work for the good of the humanity . In prosperity, HE tries our gratitude ,in adversity our steadfastness and at all times our trust and obedience to Him .
Extraordinarily Ordinary : Babaji always inspired his followers to be polite , positive and practical.
“It is nice to be important but it is more important to be nice . ”
Humility is  the very essence of devotion and  if one does not imbibe it  , one cannot  be a true devotee .  A true devotee prays, “O master ! let thy word be dear to me like life.  May I not be swayed by praises , but be a servant  of  thy servants .   ” Any man with any form of pride in him is bound to face humiliation sooner or later . Describing prayer as the key to a blissful life , Babaji always exhorted his devotees to pray for the universal wellbeing .
OF GOOD AND BAD DEEDS :
Good deeds in  themselves do not lead to God realization though God realization certainly inspires good thoughts and. deeds. His message was to clothe the naked ,feed the hungry , help the needy , and bring about a millennium of happiness.  Citing the example of Abu Bin Adam , Babaji always stated that the hands that serve are better than  the lips that pray only.
Deeds , good or bad , are like  seeds sown  in a field . The seeds that remain ‘covered ‘ with earth , grow up and flourish well with the passage of time  .So , men should do good deeds silently and secretly .  These would certainly grow up   like the well covered seeds and bear fruit .On the other hand , if some bad deed has been done  , it should be exposed immediately  , so that  it may not grow up to our disadvantage.
Baba GurubachanSingh ji Maharaj explained that there  is , in fact , no definite demarcation  where the poverty ends and richness starts. He remarked that how so low you may find yourself to be , there is always another who is still lower than  you . Richness of a person can be  measured  not by his possessions, but by his fewer and limited needs . The so called rich are none but the spiritually poor with money .
STRESS ON CHARACTER  :
All our behavior and daily life is based on the misconception that the invisible God does not exists .
True religion stands for relationship between man and God in particular and between man and man in general .  While imparting  God – knowledge  to a seeker  , 5 universally acceptable  tenets are explained  by him which serve as a compass in the course of life and give a spiritual turn to his character. He believes that all our assets, mental and material , belong to the divinity and we , as trustees only , are ordained to use them for the common good of the whole human race .This spells a living above the narrow prejudices of caste , religion , race  etc. Thereby he becomes tolerant and respectful to others’ mode of dress , diet and culture .  This enables him to lead a purposeful , self reliant life and maintain harmony in the society. His practical life thus echos the refrain :
“TRUTH IS HIGH; BUT HIGHER STILL  ISTRUTHFUL LIVING”.
Thus preaching spirituality and humanism as a remedy for all human maladies . he waged a relentless war against social evils  and fostered human brotherhood .
When God dwells  in the mind it is protected from the evil ways . With men of such character ,destiny touches their feet.
THE TOWERING TRUE MASTER
He was indeed a multi- splendour personality . Satguru overlooks the flaws of every one .  Babaji emphasized that one should not waste precious moments of life  by concentrating on other’s faults , instead we should overlook  these and make an honest effort to accept others as part of our own family .
Lord Krishna might have  destroyed the ‘wicked’ folk .But the Baba never destroyed  even ‘wicked’. He destroyed their ’wickedness’ and thus reformed the ‘wicked’.  Babaji also amply fulfills the Wordsworthian vision of Skylark:
Type of wise , who soar but never roam
True to the kindred point of heaven and home.
With one eye , he gazed at the heaven , with the other , he gazed profoundly at his deviant devotees and used to administer even soft but suitable stinkers to them , That is why , such astute disciples were afraid to face  him and were put back on the rails .
LOVE AND RESPECT FOR EACH OTHER :It is misfortune  for those who do not realize God, but more unfortunate are those who ignore the Divine Knowledge received by them and go askew.
Deviation of the devotee from the divine path has always been a matter of concern. Nay devotee leaving the Mission pained him just as the departure of a member of a the family from the world .
When we worship the true master (satgurru)  God is pleased that his Messenger has been accepted and honoured ; and when we worship God , after realizing Him, the True master is pleased to find that we have understood the knowledge of God . When we heartily love each other , both the satguru  ( True master) and God feel happy to see their Mission spreading love fulfilled . The absence of love between man and man is causing degeneration in the human  society . There should be mutual love and affection between  man and man to foster harmony and to earn blessings of both God and His messenger , the True Master.
For this purpose , regular congregations  is indispensable , otherwise one is  liable to go astray and get caught in the cob web of worldly affairs laced with misery.  It ignites us with the spirit of tolerance , understanding and self sacrifice. Those who live up to his teachings enjoy peace ,bliss and happiness. It is our sacred duty, firstly to save anyone going astray  and more important secondly to bring back” The Lost Sheep “in the Mission’s fold  by making earnest  and sincere efforts. When someone goes away from the Mission and indulges in unsavoury acts , Satguru Babaji shows concern :  “ The whole world knows ,  you are my men  ;   if any one goes astray it  makes me feel small. ”
Baba was a “Universal therapist ” -.all types of ailing persons , suffering physically , emotionally , mentally and spiritually  found ready relief at  his hands.
Babaji was a transformer of human attitudes , ethos , character and personality . He devoted his life to transform the society by his intuitive vision ,values and superb style of living  a practical life.
Merged in divinity himself , Babaji relentlessly worked to establish communication if not communion  of his devotees with the divinity . This was indeed the master mission of his life.. He was the reservoir of total and true consciousness. He would always subordinate  the small self ( of flesh , blood and matter ) to the sublime and real self. He believed that God was the greatest purifier and elixir.
What we need is righteous living , a perfect blend of materialism and spiritualism  . It can only be achieved if you follow  the prescription given by  Satguru. Like a navigator who works out the direction of the aircraft or ship , we need the guidance of Satguru who steers the ship of our life and put it on the right path to reach  the final  destination. ( attain salvation ).
Babaji followed what he preached and spent his life in sheer humility.
                                                         ......

Once Buddha was walking from one town to another  with a few of his followers.  While they were travelling they happened to pass a lake . They stopped there. Buddha told one of his disciples “I am thirsty . Get me some water from the lake there ”. The disciple walked up to the lake. When he reached it , he noticed that some people were washing clothes in the water. And right at that moment  , a bullock cart started crossing through the lake. As a result , the water became very muddy , very turbid. The disciple thought , “How can I give this muddy water to Buddha ?” So he came back and told Buddha , “ The water in the lake is very muddy . I do not think  it is fit to drink .” They waited for half an hour  there. Again Buddha asked the same disciple to go back to the lake and get him some water to drink . The disciple obediently went back to the lake .This time he found that the lake had absolutely clear water in it . The mud had settled down and  the water above looked fit to drink . So, he collected some water  in a pot and brought it to Buddha.
Buddha looked at the water and then he looked up at the disciple and said , “ See what you did to make  the water clean . You let it be … and the mud settled down on its own and you got clear water .
“Your mind is also like that . When  it is  disturbed just let it be. Give it a little time . It will settle down on its own. You do not have to put any effort to calm it down . It will just happen . It is effortless. ”

Moral  :  Peace of mind  is not a strenuous job . It is an effortless process. When there is peace inside you , the peace permeates to the outside . It spreads around you and in the environment  such that the people around you start feeling that peace and grace.

                           SEWA

“Life gets a meaning if it is lived for others
                                                        – Nirankari Babaji

“If I can stop a heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain.
If I can ease one life of the aching, Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin Unto the nest again,
I shall not live in vain.” -

Sewa (selfless service) simply implies service without consideration, expectation of reward or anticipation of the result of service.
Man is the most superior of the animal species blessed with the power of intellect and the responsibility to guide its destiny. Selfless service plays a significant role for the seeker, who wishes to tread on the path of spirituality. Most religions of the world propagate service to humanity as a means to achieve the final objective of realization of the divine. Babaji lays stress on suppressing vices by selfless service and thereby following the divine path to merge with the Lord. It is very difficult to serve the True Guru. Surrender your ego; give up your selfishness.
Thus , Babaji says. “ Let thy vices die before Thee ”
Those who practice truth, contentment and love, obtain the supplies of the Lord's name.So banish corruption from your mind and the True One will grant you truth.
All forms of austerity, denouncing the world and residing in forests, caves and mountains and torturing the human body are no match to the service of the Lord, which is supreme, by way of kindness, contentment and truthful living.

Practice truth, contentment and kindness; this is the essence of life. Through selfless service, humility and love, the mind is purified and the ego is decimated, paving way for its merging with the divine.
There are three types of services that are central to the attainment of divine grace. These are  service by wealth, body and mind (Dhann, Tann, Mann).

1.The service by wealth brings renunciation to the mind and the attraction of materialism lessens. The individual starts becoming detached to the external material world and focuses on the divine, entering the state of  detachment).
2. The service by body :
Service by the body means working with hands and feet for the welfare of mankind. For instance, cleaning and dusting the shoes of the Saadh Sangat, washing utensils , cooking and serving Langar, taking care of the sick and the needy, providing a helping hand in the construction of religious places or facilities for the society and other deeds performed physically. Bin sewa dhrig hath pe-ir hor nehfal karni.  If one does not render divine service, his hands and feet are worthless. So also the deeds performed with them. Such sewa enables man to transcend the joys and sorrows of the body, making an effort towards suppressing the ego and focusing on dedication on the Divine Name.
3.The service by mind :
The  highest service is that of the mind. Through this the individual surrenders his identity towards becoming one with the Lord. Service by wealth involves sharing the fruits of selfless hard work. In other words, sharing a part of our honest earnings and dedicating it to the Guru for the benefit of the needy and underprivileged. This is a pre-requisite to follow the path of virtuous living   leading to the Divine: Service of the mind is to distract the mind from vices of lust, anger, greed, attachment and ego and to unite the mind with Guru and to accept the Lord's Will gracefully.
Those who serve are content. They meditate on the Truest of the True. They do not place their feet in sin, but perform good deeds and live righteously. By rendering selfless service of wealth, body and mind and meditating on the divine name, one attains the spiritual grace of merging with the Divine. All the spiritually self-enlightened men of the world have
achieved union with God only through the service of the body, mind and wealth.

Bhai Kanhaiya is a shining example of selfless service to humanity of compassion and kindness, with no distinction of nationality, caste or creed. He is aptly known as the 'fore-runner of the modern Red Cross, .
The following points are the pre-requisite for Sewa:
1. Treat all equally We should serve humanity selflessly, without any consideration, with complete dedication, with an open mind and see the Divine in all. Then only can we attain Lord. One who performs selfless service, without desire for reward attains to the Lord.

2. Serve with compassion and love : To serve the entire mankind equally without discrimination;   render help and assistance to everybody without prejudice and make no distinction between friend and foe. We should treat even our foes  with respect, compassion, humility and love.
3. The five weapons :  Use the five weapons namely
 a) deep level of compassion (Dayaa/Karuna), b)complete compliance to truth (Sat),
c) inner contentment (Santokh),
d) overflowing humility (Nimrata) and
e) total love (Pyaar).  to destroy the five internal thieves or the vices i.e., Kaam (lust), Krodh (anger), Lobh (greed), Moh (attachment) and Ahankaar (ego).
4. Share with others :
To share one's wealth with the needy and reduce their suffering and pain. To carry out whatever Sewa that we are able to and help make life comfortable for anyone who is hurt, in pain, is suffering or otherwise.

The central theme of Bhagwad Gita is to serve humanity without attachment or ego. Lord Krishna says, “Your duty is only to work and not look for the fruits thereof.” A Karma Yogi should be absolutely free from greed, attachment, lust, anger and ego. Only then he can render useful selfless service. The path of Karma Yoga eventually leads to attainment of the Divine. The whole essence of Bhagwad Gita :
‘Performing good deeds, he does not seek rewards. A devoted seeker of truth  has no desire for the fruits of his labors. He is absorbed in devotional worship and the singing  the songs of the Lord's Glory. Be good, do good and after performing good deeds, one should pray to the Almighty that he has not done anything, You have got it done by him. This is the essence of the teachings of all scriptures and prophets of the world.
Those, who want inner bliss are very few. All crave for worldly happiness, but no one knows where he can get it. All search for it in wealth and material possessions. Maaya (illusion) never allows people to taste the bliss of the inner life i.e., the Atma (soul). Deluded by its power, man thinks that there is no transcendental realm, that there is nothing beyond the senses.
'Eat, drink and be merry' has become the motto of life for a vast majority. The path to the realm of God is open only to those, who have been endowed with Divine Grace. Selfless service requires personal action by the individual, a desire to pack up and start. It is easy to give away excess money, used equipment, and used clothing. It is more difficult to give off our time and personal presence to help others.
This human body has been given to you. It is your chance to meet the Lord of the Universe, i.e., to realize the One, who sustains the universe.

                                           ……………………………………………………………..

                                         SAINTS   OF   INDIA
Saints of the 15th century, who followed the path of devotion and prayer and realized the Divine within.
These Saints belonged to all classes and religions, and in the beginning followed the rites and rituals of their own sects, but as they went on, all rituals and forms dropped away and they all with one voice proclaimed the same Truth, the Existence and the Realization of an all pervading and all embracing Divine Reality, the One-in-All and the All-in-One. Thus establishing once for all that the Sphere of God Consciousness is a live Realization, and he who honestly searches after it in meek humility, and keeps the company of God Conscious persons, reaches it.

1.    Ramanand was a Gaurh Brahmin and a Vaishnava. He was an extreme devotee of outward cleanliness and ritualism. He started as a worshipper of Krishna Moorti. Then took to meditation on Ram (the all pervading). Being an honest searcher after truth, he went on his way of meditation and prayer and ultimately reached the stage which is given in his own words (1195) : “Where shall I go now. I have realized the source of life and bliss in my own heart. My mind now does not wander, it has found its heaven of peace and bliss. One day a desire to go to the temple rose in my mind. I rubbed Sandal wood with water and made a paste of it, took rose water and all kinds of scents and started for the temple of God. But now the Guru has made me realize the Divine in my own heart. “Wherever I go to the temple, I only see water and stone images, but Thou O Lord art all pervading. I have closely studied the Vedas and the Puranas in the search of God. However, there is no need of going to them. He is a live reality in the human heart. O my Satguru (the shower of the Path of Realization), I am a sacrifice to Thee. You have completely uprooted all my doubts and fears. Ramanand Swami now realizes the all pervading Divine. The meditation on the Gurmantra Ram, given to me by the Guru, has freed me from the shackles of all past Karmas.”

 2. Saint Kabir was a weaver by caste. He was disciple of Ramanand. He meditated on the all  pervading Ram and was known as the greatest Saint of his time, a Braham Gyani who felt the whole universe as a manifestation of the Divine and saw God in everything .
The whole created universe sprang up from One Divine Light, then whom shall we call good and whom bad (high or low). O man, do not loose yourself in false doubts. He is the One-in- All and the All-in-One and pervades the whole creation. The creator is in His universe and the universe is in Him. Like a potter he has created all kinds of forms and species, from one common clay (Panch Tat). Both the created forms and the creator are natural and faultless. The same Divine Reality pervades all the created things and He is the sole creator. He who tunes Himself with the Divine Law, realizes the one everlasting Godhood. Such a person has the right to be called a man (an ideal man who has reached the goal of true manhood). The Guru (God Conscious guide) has given me the Sweet Divine Name, whose taste like a dumb person I can feel but cannot express in words.
Says Kabir . “ All my doubts have been removed and I see the Divine everywhere through and through the whole created universe.”

3. Namdev : A Maharashtrian Saint (a devotee of Gobind), was a washerman, dyer and calico printer. He started his devotional career as an idol worshipper, but being a true and non-sophisticated searcher after the Eternal Divine reached the stage of self-realization. He says : “Ram speaks through all the created frames (bodies). None else but Ram speaks. From an ant to an elephant all variegated forms have been created out of one clay (composite of five elements). Ram pervades through the mineral kingdom. The creatures which walk on their legs the worms, insects and birds flying in the air. It is He who moves in them. “Then O man give up all attachments to the worldly things and rising above all desires, ever keep the mind fixed on the Divine Name. Then says Namdev in deep humility and meekness, “ You  shall become a selfless searcher after Truth and become one with Him. The worshipper and the worshipped Divinity shall blend into each other.”

4. Sheikh Farid was a Mohammedan searcher after Truth. He followed the rites and rituals of his religion and was very strict in saying his Namaz (Mohammedan Prayer) five times a day. He meditated every morning on Allah. Being a true and honest seeker he reached the conclusion that God existed in the hearts of all men and if one really wishes to realize Him, he should not hurt the feelings of any one.
In his own words Sheikh Farid says : “Do not speak rudely to any one, as the same Divine Master dwells in the hearts of all. Do not break the heart of any one, as every heart is a priceless jewel in the Divine Realm. The hearts of all are priceless jewels of Peace and Bliss. You should never give them a blow by word, deed or action. If you long for the realization of the Divine Reality, then do not give a rude shock to the heart of any one.”

5 Ravidas a cobbler by profession, devotes himself to meditation on Ram, the all pervading, and attains the stage of Enlightenment. High-caste Brahmins fall down at his feet to receive his blessings and get the gift of the Divine Name. The stage of mind which he reached is given here in his own words :
“I have reached that region of spiritual life which is free from all anxiety. There is no pain and sorrow. There is no attachment and no taxes to pay. I have risen above all fear, error and there is no coming down from this stage. “I have found my true Home and enjoy eternal bliss. The crown of everlasting spiritual Kingship has been bestowed on me. All thoughts of mine and thine, second or third have vanished. I see one and one alone. It is an ever glorious eternal realm and in it dwell those whose hearts are filled with the glory of God. Having reached at oneness with the Divine Law, their actions become spontaneous and natural, free  from all restraints of attachment. Says Ravidass Chamaar, “ All shackles of doubts and fears have been removed. I have become a free man and he who has reached this stage is my true friend and spiritual companion.”
                   Trust in God
 I asked for Strength
And God gave me Difficulties to make me strong.
I asked for Wisdom
And God gave me Problems to solve.
I asked for Prosperity
And God gave me Brain and Brawn to work.
I asked for Courage
And God gave me Danger to overcome.
I asked for Love
And God gave me Troubled people to help.
I asked for Favors
And God gave me Opportunities.
I received nothing I Wanted
I received everything I Needed.

                                   The Satguru Tradition

"God is everywhere, close to all, but cannot be realized without the help of the True Master."

The pursuit of Truth is a universal phenomenon. Religious faiths all across the world proclaim to preach it, and amongst them they agree that there is no greater Truth than the Supreme Being, the Creator of the Universe, the Almighty Formless One - Nirankar. The many and varied names for God all represent an omnipresent, all-pervasive, omniscient, and Supreme Entity.

All the sages, seers, saints, gurus and prophets from across time have, therefore, preached the same Ultimate Truth; God. The approach, however, might have been different. The various Holy Scriptures are the milestones representing the flow of Divine Thought. These writings and teachings were meant to reveal the Ultimate Truth. History, however, shows that rituals and dogmas overwhelmed the essential Truth behind these teachings, creating confusion and division between religions, sects, and communities.

Baba Buta Singh Ji, the founder and first Satguru of the Sant Nirankari Mission, recognized that adhering to rites and rituals does not enable humans to realize God. That can happen only with the grace of a God-realized soul. In 1929 Baba Buta Singh Ji began to show the path of uniting with God. This is how the Sant Nirankari Mission and Satguru tradition began.

The Satguru tradition states that God-realization is possible only through the Satguru, the teacher of God Knowledge. The mission of the Satguru is eternal, for there is always another candle to light, another life to transform.

 Sangat

The Sangat is a spiritual gathering of believers for recitation of Naam Simran and Guru's blessings descending upon them.
We need the company of ever growing Sangat. Every day, without break, one is to be with the Saadh Sangat and Santjan, and absorb every word of the Santjan. Gradually, we arrive at the point of realization, knowledge and belief in the need for true Sangat for ever. Superfluous association with the Sangat is meaningless. It is necessary to get closely knit with the Saadh Sangat. This happens when Sangat, Simran and Sewa are combined in one place.
Only by the grace of the Almighty will one come across good and desirable company while one is involved in the worldly affairs doing one's duty to earn a living.
A seeker’s introspection  on the value of  Sangat :
·       When I joined the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, O True Master, I met my Lord.
·       The day I meet the holy ones , unto that day I am a sacrifice. Again and again I sacrifice my body, mind and self unto thee.
·        It strengthens me to drive out the five vices from my mind. It also instructs me to talk softly and sweetly to all.
·       The five thieves take to their heels, when the mortal gets into the holy company.
·       Divine sight of the Santjan and their very presence sends out vibrations, which purify the Sangat sitting around them. The divine spiritual expression is shared by one and all.
·       By good fortune I have obtained the company of saints and attained God, the seat of eternal bliss. My tongue enjoys the Lord's praise and the Name illumines within me.

·       Only the positive thinking Sangat gathers around the Santjan. In such company, the capacity to absorb truthful life expands. The aura of the Santjan spreads wide. Slowly noiseless transformation takes place and personalities change for the better.

·       I have completely forgotten the jealousy of others since I found the company of holy persons. No one is my foe and no one is alien, I get along with every one.
·        It is the Sangat that helps me to understand and follow the true path of life delineated by the Guru. The singing of the Guru's Word in the company of Sangat transports the Gursikh into the realm of divine essence of spiritual realization guides me to a better life.
·       By searching and seeking have I learnt, without the society of saints none can swim across.
·       He, who contemplates on God, obtains all the comforts. We should go, sit and associate with the company of the pious persons.
·       In the company of Saadh Sangat one becomes receptive to absorb positive vibrations and remains bonded to Naam Simran day in and day out. One acquires the qualities of Santjan, thereby experiencing a change in one's life. Spiritual realization helps intuition to be activated to absorb spiritual knowledge. One's conscience spreads out tentacles to assimilate the ambience of Santjan's purity.
·       Dhian (concentration) in Naam Simran which is also essential for spiritual attainment becomes possible in the company of the Saadh Sangat
·       In the holy company, faith arises in the mortal. Ever is the Lord's light within and without us.
·       By being in the holy company, understanding is shaped .
·       Where, the Lord abides in mind, evil intellect is annulled.
·       Under the influence of positive rays of Naam Simran and Sangat, one becomes the member of the Guru-family of universal brotherhood and co-operative living. Then selfless Sewa also becomes a part of one's life:
·       With the saints are my dealings, with the saints is my business. From the saints have I earned Naam, my mind is filled with God's devotion.

One can avoid the company of undesirable people, but how can one avoid the company of lowly thoughts emerging from one's mind. For this, one has to cultivate one's mind so that lowly thoughts do not flourish there.
“Faith is a friend, the tender hearted is pure; wisdom is mildness, he who is without greed is a saint; truth is paradise, praise of God is ablution; honesty is a friend.” One should avoid the company of the depraved ones, who live the life of selfishness and greed. Sometimes our ego blinds us and we develop weakness for the company of selfish and self seeking persons who shall depart wasting their lives.

The blessed persons understand the negative impact of such conversation and avoid it and remain in the company of Saadh Sangat.

A poem to be read several times in order to ‘hear’ it and feel its emotions.

 The immortal God, resides within
O, seeker of Truth!
Consider, this human form
Subject to mortality.
The Divine God,
Living in the temple of this body
Is only immortal!
The entire material possessions
Of this world
Are transient like a dream!
Nothing to accompany you
Across the thresh-hold
Of your life.
Why are you foolish enough,
To be absorbed, controlled
And engrossed in these
Pleasures?
Rise above,
The approval or disapproval
Of others.
Clean the abode of God,
From evils, temptations and sins,
Sing the Glories of the Lord!
One and only one God,
Is pervading everywhere!

                                                                       ……………………………
                 Essence of Nirankari Philosophy

The unbridled sway of lust, anger, greed, delusions and conceit
over us, acts as a barrier between us and the divine awareness we yearn for.
We should learn to curb the waywardness of these
deviant energies. By undergoing the lived spiritual discipline,
we cleanse ourselves in mind and body.

Thus, we prepare ourselves for being admitted to the state of oneness with the One.
Once immersed in this color of the Divine, we never lose our sheen.
                    Ego responsible for vices
Governed by his free will, man laughs or weeps;
 Of his free will, he is soiled or washes himself;
Of his free will, he degrades himself from the human order;
Of his free will he befools himself or becomes wise.
Self-assertion gives man his individuality and leads him to action;
It also ties him down to the world and keeps him in the cycle of births and rebirths.
Where from comes this assertion of self?
How shall it leave us?
It is the Lord's Will that on account of ego, men wander according to their past actions.
Ego is a chronic disease, but within it is also its curing medicine.
If the Lord bestows His Grace, then man acts according to the Guru's 'Word'.
Saints say: Hear you all, this is the only way to cure the disease.)
                              Taming Ego

Always seek the company of the lowest of the low class, the very lowest of the low. What has he to do with
the high? God's grace falls on those who take care of the lowly.
(Meaningless is the caste and vain the glory.)
The Lord does not ask the mortals caste and birth, so you find out the Lord's True Home. That alone is man's caste and that his glory, as are the deeds, which he performs)
Nobody is without some worth.

                      Follow Truth
Truth is the medicine of all; only Truth can wash away our sins.
Falsehood shall come to an end and truth shall ultimately prevail.
Truth never gets old.
Truth is higher than all principles and living truthfully is above all acts considered to be holy.
Then alone the man is known as true, if truth be in his heart. His filth of falsehood is cast off and he
washes his body clean.
Then alone, man is known to be true, if he bears love to the True One. When the mind is enraptured on hearing the Naam, then the mortal obtains salvation. Then alone, man is known to be true, when he knows the device of union of the self with the Absolute. Preparing the body soil, he puts into it the seed of the Creator.
Then alone is the man known to be true, when he receives the true instruction. He shows mercy to living beings and gives something in charity.
Then alone is one known as true, when man resides at the sacred font of spirit, where, taking guidance from the True Guru, he abides in peace.

                           Ardas   ---    prayer
It is very important for a seeker after truth to remain in a
grateful state of mind. Ardas or prayer of thanks giving is
the surest protection against egoism or arrogance that
every seeker is subject to, in course of the quest for the
divine values, which one realizes by being a part of them.
And yet, this very affinity with the divine can cause a
sense of pride and vanity which would mean that one, once again, becomes a victim of impulses of temptation.
To remain in a posture of gratitude and prayer in thought, speech and action is the only way to remain worthy of the benevolence of the Almighty – God. yard

No one seems alien to me

Ever since I have found the company of the Saadh Sangat,
No one seems alien to me; everyone has become my own.

                        PIECE  OF  ADVICE

The views of worldly people are different from the words they speak.
And often, the words they speak are opposite and an exaggeration of their thoughts.
A person often utters sweet words and if these words were true, the person would become an angel.
But there is no truthfulness in them. He speaks exaggerated words.
In fact mostly he utters lies and rarely when there is any trace of truth found in such words, it is to an infinitesimal extent only.
But fools that we are, hearing those sweet words, we trust them and keep feeling that whatever the person is saying is truly coming out of his heart and he is as sweet as he wants us to know.
This is how we rely upon their words and get deceived and caught in the murderous grip, from which it becomes impossible to extricate oneself!
Beloved, do not ever rely upon the sweet words of any worldly person. Delve deep into his mind.
There you see, what actually he is. Often you would observe, that he is
despicably base in his thoughts and whatever he was making you believe about his own greatness, was a total lie.
Though at that time, his thoughts may be in conformity with the spoken words, still don't rely on the person, for his thoughts may not always remain the same.
It does not take time to change the views, particularly the views of these worldly people, who go on changing minute after minute, for their minds are not clean.
Their minds keep on wandering and changing incessantly.
If you want to rely upon anyone, let it be Gurusikhs only, who do not
have a filthy mind and who are ever pure and true.
                                                                               For your well-being

Gurus - At the Feet of the Formless God

By strength of spirit, a person gets courage to face criticism
-Baba Hardev Singh
The Sant Nirankari Mandal is a humongous organisation, whose followers number over a crore in over 50 countries. Their annual samagams or gatherings attract several lakhs of devotees, from all classes, castes and communities. In its own quiet way, this movement is a force to be reckoned with and an instrument of tremendous social change. Despite the mass following, especially among the less privileged, their philosophy is of the highest order, for they give their allegiance to the formless God. Recognized by the Vedas as Brahman, the nameless and formless, who is the source of all forms and names in the universe, the Source is here called Nirankar.
The Philosophy
The movement prescribes absolute surrender to Nirankar, who alone prevails. Recognizing that all attributes of body, mind and property are gifts of the formless God, they urge the devotee to abjure all vanity, and vanquish the ego. The movement claims to be able to give devotees an instantaneous experience of God-realisation. The only prerequisite being that the seeker must surrender himself at the feet of the satguru, Baba Hardev Singh, and ask for salvation with the urgency of a drowning man praying for a rescue.

. What is indisputable is their all-inclusivity. The rich and poor, the harijan and the brahmin, all come together in equality in their movement.

Babaji, as he is referred to, constantly reminds his followers to move beyond all differences and to live in the brotherhood of man under the fatherhood of God. The philosophy is practiced through charming customs like touching each other's feet, bowing and saying "
Dhan Nirankar ", meaning God is great. They also serve the first morsel out of their platter to another person as a food offering to God.

Nirankaris bow their head respectfully to each other, which is an expression of reverence for the formless God, who is their object of worship, and who dwells within all human beings.
Their spiritual practices consist of seva, satsang and simran (contemplation). "Ik tuhi Nirankar, mein teri sharan, mujhe baksh lo”
Five precepts: The Mission follows five precepts:
o All assets belong to God and man is only their trustee
o To overcome all distinctions of caste, class, color and community
o To disparage no one on the basis of appearance, diet or lifestyle
o To embrace householder life
o Never to divulge divine truth to anyone without knowledge of the satguru

The History
The inception of the Mission dates back to the early nineteenth century when Baba Buta Singh, at the age of 40, realized brahma gyan or knowledge of God. The Mission had its formal beginning in May 1929, when Baba Avtar Singh, the second satguru, received brahma-gyan from Baba Buta Singh and joined him in spreading the word among the people. The two formed a team until Baba Buta Singh breathed his last in 1943 and the satguru manifested in Baba Avtar Singh.

One of the unique attributes of Baba Avtar Singh is that during his lifetime itself he took a decision to revert from the satguru to an ordinary devotee. Because of his humble decision, he is still referred to as the dearest of all Nirankaris. Thereafter, the torch was handed over to Baba Gurbachan Singh.

Unfortunately, Baba Gurbachan Singh was assassinated on April 24, 1980, thanks to the resistance of the Sikh community to this breakaway sect that revolved around a live guru. Such a practice runs against their allegiance to the Guru Granth Sahib, and has therefore earned the Nirankaris their antagonism. It was the darkest moment of the Mission's history, but it also proved to be its greatest. Baba Gurbachan Singh's young son, Hardev, was made the new satguru. The Nirankaris were inflamed and agitated by the traumatic event and thirsting for revenge. Though taught to surrender to the will of God, they found it hard to practice this lofty ideal.

Despite his own grief, both as a son and disciple, young Hardev rose nobly to the occasion. In his very first discourse, he said, "If there is anyone who should be ready to take revenge for Baba Gurbachanji's assassination, it should be me. But if I do so I will not be emulating the ideals of humanity set by him, for which he laid down his life. If I tread the path of revenge, I would neither be his son nor his disciple."

What could have destroyed the Mission became instead a source of inspiration, that spurred the Nirankaris to spread the teaching with even greater zeal all over the world. The mission has sparked off a veritable spiritual revolution not just in India but in countries like USA, Canada, UK, Germany and Australia.

Baba Hardev Singh
is the present satguru of the spiritual lineage of Nirankari mentor has a  serene and unpretentious appearance. The smile on his face is effulgent;

1.What is the philosophy of the Mission?Sant Nirankari Mission is an all-encompassing spiritual movement that aims to establish universal brotherhood through the fatherhood of God. The Mission's philosophy is that God is formless and can be realized with the grace of a living master. Spirituality is the way through which the mind can be sublimated by removal of poisonous attributes like jealousy, arrogance, intolerance, pride and prejudice, hatred, etc. The pollution of vices is converted into the oxygen of saintly attributes.

2.What is the distinguishing factor of the Mission that makes it stand apart? The Mission's objective of imparting divine knowledge instantaneously to a seeker makes it stand apart. The only prerequisite is that the seeker must humbly ask for it and should have an intense desire to realize God, like a drowning person's desire to survive. Besides, the Mission's core values like equality of men irrespective of their color, caste, nationality and religion, are other distinguishing factors.

3.What was it like, being part of the mission?I was fortunate to have been born and brought up in the Mission. With the grace of my true master, Baba Gurbachan Singhji Maharaj, I have always been in the company of saints and associated with seva, satsang and simran from my childhood.

The Mission has been a part of your family, since your father was the previous satguru. Is the post hereditary?
Baba Buta Singhji, the first head of the Mission, handed over the responsibility of the Mission to Baba Avtar Singhji, who was not his blood relative. Satguru declares his successor in accordance with the ancient tradition of gurmat in which there is no scope for bias based on familial background or socio-economic status.

4.Why do you call yourself a das(servant)...I call myself a das because I see in each and every human being a twinkling spark of divinity. Because I am the das of the Almighty, I am a das of his devotees.

5. Do you feel that with the changing times the ethos needs to be redesigned? The foundation of the Mission's philosophy is God, the formless One, who is unchangeable and imperishable. Baba Buta Singhji, founder of the Mission, set out with the objective of enlightening the world with God knowledge and establishing universal brotherhood. Because there is widespread ignorance about the formless One, the Mission's philosophy is still as relevant as it was when it started. Spiritual awakening is the objective of the Mission.

6. Can rites and rituals lead to God?People are ignorant about the supreme power of God and are trying to please or realize him through rituals, austerity, and so on. They may do some good if the practitioner has a theistic bent of mind. Generally speaking, the human eye can see everything except itself. To see it, one needs a mirror. Similarly, one can see one's real Self in the mirror of God knowledge.

7.Then what should be the ultimate path?Divine love - love for God and love for others - is the only path. Due to ignorance about the Omnipresent, the world is divided on many issues. The Mission has been constantly striving to bring souls in communion with the Super Soul through its message. Everything else is incidental. Peace, universal brotherhood and communal harmony are the goals to strive for. The Mission is trying to foster love among fellow beings. The key benefit of communion with the formless One is that man lives a life devoid of ego. Such souls are assets to the world and create a congenial atmosphere for peaceful coexistence. The Mission, with its message, is also helping seekers become good citizens.

8.How do you perceive various aspects of life like unity, truth, and ahimsa?Truth, that is the formless One, is the only absolute. All other aspects like unity, ahimsa, etc, are relative and cannot be brought about in a true sense of the word unless man realizes the basic and ultimate Truth.

9.How can we practice compassion?By strengthening our spirit. Once we accomplish superiority of our soul, the love for our fellow beings emerges as a side-effect. Otherwise, one's actions or words could hurt people. By strengthening one's spirit a person gets courage to face criticism and not be hurt by it. The human soul is essentially compassionate; it is wrapped in numerous layers, which represent negativities. Find that soul by looking within yourself.

10 Could you throw some light on the ego?Ego is the worst enemy that one can possess. The concept should be thee and thy and not me and my.

11  What is the goal of the human being? There is no distinction in the basic instincts of an animal and human. However, humans have a profound level of understanding. We all are blessed with human life to get salvation. Realize your mission. There is only one lifetime, and only one chance. God knowledge is the beginning and God realisation is the end.

  FIVE  NOBLE  PLEDGES

As the best medicine is not effective without practicing prescribed precautions and no task can be carried out without the practical actions. Similarly, one cannot gain saints’ blessings till he does not have respect in the heartLikewise God knowledge (Brahmgyan) cannot stay in the heart unless one has absolute faith in the True Lord Master (Satguru). God realization is possible only with the blessings of the True Master and cannot be attained without HIS (Satguru) grace. Moreover, the instability of mind cannot be stopped without the divine knowledge. Lastly, the divine world cannot be understood unless we practice the five commandments (panch pran).
PLEDGE  I :

The first pledge is that the body, mind and material possessions belong to The formless One – Nirankar
The greatest gift of God to you, O’ man, is this beautiful body; but you should consider it as a trust by God, and nothing belongs to you. It is the mind, influenced by whom, you are misled every time. You consider everything as yours and in result, you are indulging in the false pride. The palaces and mansions, your family, tribe, wealth, all what you possess; all that is visible is false, and just a moving shadow. While making use of all these assets, if you will surrender to the Divine will; you shall not be troubled with the disease of ego, and will always remain happy. O’ man, you must treat all your assets as belonging to God and there should be no dispute about this . The first pledge is that the body, mind and material assets all belong to the Formless God - Nirankar.

SUBMISSION is the virtue stressed by this pledge . One is required to accept wholeheartedly that one’s body, mind and wealth ,     indeed all you own are gifts from God. In order to guard against these things becoming a source of greed or  false pride  , one should accept them as mere trustees and to vow to use these gifts for the betterment of mankind.
PLEDGE  II :

The second pledge is not to believe in caste and social divisions.
The same divine spirit is present in every human being, male or female; May be a Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaish or Sudra [by caste], all are the creation of the One - God. All have a similar human body, carved (shaped) by the same Almightythen why should there be disputes of caste and creed; and where is the need to calm down the people? Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians, all are the children of one God. You should love them all as human beings, whether they are good or bad. When the same spirit of God is present in all, then who is good and who is bad? Just as the dirt that submerged in The Ganga becomes Ganga itself. You must treat all human beings alike, and shed your ego and pride. The second pledge is not to believe in caste, creed and social divisions.

BROADMINDEDNESS is the virtue developed by following this pledge. To live above worldly divisions of nationality , race , colour language and creed. A devotee is required to accept all being as without  prejudice , as members of one global family,  created by the One Divine Maker  . Condemnation , criticism and hatred of any person is not acceptable.

PLEDGE  III :

The third pledge is not to hate anybody on account of what he wears , drinks and eats.
On this earth, different seasons have different climatic conditions; as a result, people wear different styles of dress and have different diet plans. God has neither prescribed (approved) nor banned any particular food; whatever we eat or drink that is related to the body and has no relation with the soul.
O’ man, sit and think over sometime with a relaxed mind; how does it matter to you if somebody wears a dhoti, long underwear or shalwar? You may eat, drink and wear whatever you like. But don’t preach it to the world and add on to the disputes. God can be realized by shedding all your ego and pride. The third pledge is not to hate anyone on account of what he wears, drinks and eats.

TOLERANCE : Responsible living is  taught by this pledge One is to rise above the petty discriminations of lifestyle ,diet and dress , for these factors are often geographically  , historically and culturally determined.   These factors all too often become a source of conflict in the world  A committed devotee learns to live and let live , observing broadness of mind inspired by  Formless Nirankar for tolerance and diversity.

PLEDGE  IV :
The fourth pledge is to lead life as a householder and not to become a pretender.
O’ man, you should not leave your home, and wander from place to place. However, lead a normal family life and need not to put on saffron clothes. O’ man, you are not going to gain anything by begging alms, assuming false appearance and wandering aimlessly. You should earn your livelihood on your own, and do not be a burden on others. You should always submit cheerfully to the Will of God, and do not waste your precious human life in doubts and delusions. The fourth pledge is to lead life as a householder, and not getting into the false appearances.

COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITY as house holder is borne with fervor by followers of this pledge. To live a life of integrity and to fulfill one’s responsibilities towards the family and the wider community . There is no need to renounce the world or to indulge in penances in order to be able to come closer to God.   Rather  , pledge to live in the world as a good citizen ,sharing the burdens of others by working to create cohesion in the community .

PLEDGE  V :

The fifth pledge is not to divulge it to anyone without being ordained to do so.
One cannot make ornaments just by sitting at the jeweler’s shop for one day. A student cannot be called a teacher even if he becomes a monitor. The one who has just joined the school, what guidance can he provide to others? He can teach, only after learning his own lesson. O ’man, you should never deviate (turn aside) from the divine secret as being revealed (disclosed) to you.  The fifth pledge is not to reveal (disclose) this divine secret to anyone without being assigned (allocated) to do so.

DISCIPLINE is imbibed in a Nirankari through this pledge. To honour the sanctity of Brahma Gyan  as a divine blessing.  In order to avoid misinterpretation and confusion , the knowledge should not be divulged without the permission of the living spiritual guide.  The knowledge in the essence is , greater than words can contain , and  often expressed by  subtle intent  . When a Satguru or enlightened authority speaks , it is a conversation of the inner self  , which transcends all physical boundaries. When the Satguru perceives that an individual has fully grasped the essence of the knowledge , he bestows that individual  with the authority  for that individual to share this knowledge with others.

సద్గురు బాబా హరదేవ్ సింగ్ జి వారి మాటలలో “Truth is easy, we make it difficult and make life difficult” అంటే సరళమైన సత్యాన్ని(బ్రహ్మ జ్ఞానం)  క్లిష్టంగా చేసుకోవటము వలన మన జీవితాలు క్లిష్టంగా మారుతున్నాయి.

సద్గురు బాబా హరదేవ్  సింగ్  జీ వారు చెప్పినట్లుగా “God does not want uniformity, He wants unity” అంటే భగవంతుడు ఈ సృష్టిని ఒకేలా కనిపించటానికి కాకుండా ఒక్కటిలా ఉండటానికి సృష్టించాడు.

D I S C I P L I N  E   అనే పదములో ఉన్న ప్రతి అక్షరానికి విలువలను ఇచ్చి ( D = 4  ; I =  9   ; S = 19  ; C = ; I = ; P = 16 ; L = 12 ; I = ;  N =  14 ; E =  5   Total = 100 )  విలువలను కూడినప్పుడు దాని విలువ వంద అవుతుంది .

సమాజంలో  ఏడు రకాల గురువులను చూడవచ్చు. వారు -  సూచక గురువు  ( వీరు కేవలం శాస్త్ర పరిజ్ఞానాన్ని అందిస్తారు ) ;  వాచక గురువు (  వీరు ధర్మ అధర్మాల గురించి  వ్యాఖ్యానిస్తారు ) బోధక గురువు ( వీరు మంత్రాన్ని ఉపదేశిస్తారు  ) : నిషిద్ద గురువు  ( వీరు  తంత్ర  మంత్రాలను ఉపదేశిస్తారు  ) ;  విహిత గురువు  ( వీరు  సంసారంలో వున్న దుఖాన్ని  , నశ్వరతను తెలియజేస్తారు ) కారణ గురువు ( వీరు  మహా మంత్రాన్ని ఉపదేశించి సంసారిక రోగాన్ని దూరం చేస్తారు . ) : పరమ గురువు ( వీరు అందరికంటే ఉత్తమ గురువులు . తోడూ నీడగా ఉన్నటువంటి పరమాత్మును సర్వత్రా దర్శింప  చేస్తారు .అంటే బ్రహ్మ యొక్క అపరోక్ష అనుభూతిని కలుగచేస్తారు  { గురు గీత శ్లోకం 273296 }

                                               BABA HARDEV SINGH JI MAHARAJ

In the world where people are in distress with problems and ignorance of what happiness is about and what are the duties of mankind, there are few chosen by the divine itself who are sent on the earth to guide the people to the true happiness, the ultimate reality and show the right path which gives peace and happiness to the heart mind & soul. Among such divine gift for us is his holiness Baba Hardev Singh ji Maharaj. Baba Hardev Singh ji is the Spiritual Guru, Mentor of the Nirankari Mission The changeless in the changing physical world is called God and the changeless in the changing human body is called the Soul. The one who experiences it is known as 'Nirankari'. The sole aim of the Mission is to impart the knowledge of Nirankar (The Formless God) to the seekers' soul. Hence its name is, ' The Sant Nirankari Mission'.
Baba Hardev Singh ji Maharaj was born in Delhi in the year 1954 on February 23 in the divine family of the then Nirankari Baba Avatar Singh Ji and Jagat Mata Budhwanti Ji his grandparents and his parents Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji and Rajmata Kulwant Kaur Ji who all showered love and affection and inculcated deep rooted values in him of care, kindness & helping the needy. With the growth of the child his thoughtfulness and sobriety also grew and he was very observant in nature. Always wanting to know people with a kind heart. The pure heart of child Hardev was emotional and never anger touched him. He was greatly interest in photography as he observed the world and people around
him.  Baba Hardev Singh ji did his elementary education at home and learnt Hindi, English, and Math’s all very quickly and later joined the Rosary Public school in Delhi. All his friends & other students observed him very attentive and intelligent. His thoughtfulness and keen interest was to be seen, when he spoke the philosophy which touched every one and everyone liked him. Respect regards for elders, humility were all traits found in him at a very early age. In 1963, Baba Hardev Singh ji later was sent to very renowned residential Yadvendra Public School, Patiala where he did his high school examination in the year 1969. He was always very caring, kind, compassionate and was very dear to all students and teachers. His spiritual touch was with the letters he received from his mother Rajmata Ji. In the schooling days his interest in mountaineering grew and from there the trait of patience and perseverance as well. He would be not at all in any worry or tension even while climbing difficult terrain. He was always seen enjoying his journey and learning from every journey of his.
After completion of his school he returned to Delhi and was very enthusiastic to join in the Socio-spiritual activities of the Nirankari mission. He became regular in the Sangat and Sewa and with his kindness, caring nature everyone there would call him as, ‘Bhola ji’ the one who is innocent and pure of heart. It was in 1971 that he joined the Nirankari Sewadal as its primary member and organized "Youth Forum" in 1975, which focused on promoting truthful and simple living, service with devotion and love, refraining from incurring undue expenses and practicing prohibition.
In 1975 Baba Hardev Singh Ji was married to Sawinder Ji, daughter of devoted saints Shri Gurumukh Singh Ji and Smt. Madan Ji of Farrukhabad. Mata Sawinder Ji was born on January 12, 1957 and is well educated, full of kindness and duty conscious.
On April 24, 1980 the orthodox fanatics had snatched from the Mission the Satguru from the world, Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji. The Guru, guide who spread peace and harmony was no more with us. Young Hardev lost not only the Satguru but his beloved father which was a deep wound for him. But this was the testing time and with all his forbearance, patience and tolerance he didn’t let the mission suffer, but brought everyone back from the stress and grave situation. Every Nirankari felt that Hardev Singh ji was the only one who could be their Satguru. After the funeral of the mortal remains of Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji in Delhi on 27th April, 1980 Hardev was greeted as the Head of the Mission and everybody present witnessed the Satguru manifesting in him. True to the trust of the all the devotees and members Baba Hardev ji became perfect spiritual master. It was the guidance of Baba Hardev Singh ji who guided that violence revenge would go contrary to what Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji lived and sacrificed his life for'. Nirankaris remained non-violent even in the face of serious provocations from mis-guided fanatics and extremists.
The first holy discourse by Satguru Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj was at age of 26, a youth whose living father had been assassinated. Baba Hardev Singh Ji chose to accept the price the Mission had been called upon to pay for peace. And with his call to Nirankaris to continue to spread the voice of truth while praying for goodwill of all. The voice of Truth spread far and wide carrying with it the message of peace, love, humility and tolerance. Baba Hardev Singh Ji undertook extensive tours within the country and abroad he knew Nirankaris all over India and elsewhere in the world needed to be pacified and consoled. Baba Ji went to the remotest areas and encouraged one and all to keep the flag of love, peace and human unity flying. He traveled mostly by roads and met people as they were, where they were, his approach was at the same time intensive and intimate. Baba ji would talk with them, sit with them and make everyone feel he is their family part, share with them their sorrows and bring a light into their life by his kind words. Baba Ji’s when toured abroad he was received by large number of people as ‘apostle of peace and Universal Brotherhood.’ People from different countries would assemble at one center and listen to His Holiness.
After 27 years today, the mission has touched new heights and its all by the divine presence and will of Baba Hardev Singh ji Maharaj. The Mission has expanded in all directions with ever-increasing number of participants in the Samagams in Delhi and other places. The attendance at the regular congregations is also growing thicker and thicker. The message of the mission has touched every heart and soul and has deeply rooted itself. Many new branches and Missionaries have been appointed in order to reach out places far and wide. The North Eastern and Southern States of India are also now fully familiar with the mission and its message.
Baba Hardev Singh Ji convened a conference in Delhi in 1987, on the lines of the two Missouri Conferences convened by Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji in 1965 and in 1973. It was decided to organize blood donation camps at different places on the occasion of Manav Ekta Diwas as a gesture of selfless service to humanity and a humble acknowledgement of the supreme sacrifice of Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji for the noble cause of human welfare. Also it was decided to set up a full-fledged Department of Social Welfare and place it under the charge of a Member of the Executive Committee of the Sant Nirankari Mandal. The Santokh Sarovar Complex in Delhi has been developed into a center of attraction not only for Nirankari devotees but others also. With its 5-acre reservoir of neat and clean water and another 20 acres of lush green lawns with rows of beautiful flower plants, the Complex is a valuable anti-pollution gift to Delhi's ecology.  A new museum by the name of Journey Divine has also been setup for the spiritual benefit of the Mankind.  Quite close to the Complex, the Mission proposes to have a general hospital. Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan abroad has multiplied manifold during the past 27 years.
Baba Hardev Singh Ji has paid special attention to the youth abroad who need more care and understanding of the Indian values. The Mission has never been orthodox and against scientific and technological advancement provided it is meant for human welfare. The Mission also emphasizes the need and importance of the company of fellow enlightened beings (Satsang) and selfless service to humanity (Sewa). The Sant Nirankari Mission is an all embracing spiritual movement, cutting across all divisions of caste, color, and creed. The Mission believes in God, who is One, omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient, eternal, formless, a non-psychic objective reality and perceivable.
The Mission which began as a small effort towards spiritual enlightenment has become today a mass movement of God-Knowledge and Universal Brotherhood. Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj is the divine motivator for taking the message of the Mission to every doorstep. According to Baba Ji the Mission must work as a deep reservoir of peace, love and understanding to stem the wild fire of hatred, jealousy and ill-will. The Sant Nirankari Mission is neither a new religion nor a sect of an existing religion, but an all-embracing spiritual movement dedicated to human welfare. It endorses Realization of Fatherhood of God through the living Satguru is the goal of human life and along by we achieve Brotherhood & peace which is the need of humanity and for the progress of mankind.

The words of   wisdom of Nirankari Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj :
The  article seeks to capture and convey  the essence  of the True  Master’s message for the guidance of the world in general and his devotees in particular .
Beloved Babaji ! You are our  lives’s inspiration. May your wisdom continue to touch the depths of every heart .
The spiritual master His Holiness Nirankari Baba Hardev singh ji Maharaj  is the head of the International Movement called the Sant Nirankari Mission which is dedicated to the betterment of mankind through Brahma Gyan , the realization of God. His Holiness often refers to God as Nirankar – the formless.  He inspires seekers to develop an intimate relationship with this eternal power by bestowing on them the realization of God which is an essential pre condition to understanding and pursuing the purpose of life.
His Holiness offers a spiritual solution to the dilemmas of the modern world. Wherever he goes he speaks of nothing but spirituality which has a positive impact on our every day life. Bringing man closer to man .
He advocates  that  there is in essence only  one religion and that is the religion of Humanity.

Pertinent Thoughts :
I often say that it is the power of the Nirankar , the formless God Almighty , and the sadh sangat  that does every thing. It is because of this power that I am able to visit places and experience so much love.  This love in turn gives me the strength  to continue  to spread the message of Truth .I always pray for my every breath to be dedicated to the betterment of humanity and wish for greater strength  to remove the darkness in the world through the  revelation of the knowledge.
Someone once asked me looking back at my life as to whether my thoughts changes from what they were before.  I replied ., whatever they were before  they are the same today.  As the English saying goes –
“ I will not permit any man to degrade and narrow my soul by making me  hate them ”
Likewise I do not know how to hate and this is my belief. It is my aim for all to have this wealth of love  and for all to work to distribute  it at every opportunity .  It is my desire to reciprocate the love that you give me so that we may always enjoy its exchange.

Religion: What is religion ?
Today some religious people would claim that visiting holy places , undertaking religious rites  or observing certain ceremonies alone can be regarded as being religious.  But does the performance of  rituals  actually amount to being  religious ? Or is it  not the case that spirituality within us has been missing and that today we are simply walking around as empty shells.  If there is no true devotion within us how can we claim to be religious?
Where do we stand devoid of love and compassion . We fall short  if the intention  behind our worship is not pure. Can our claims of being religious be justified without love and purity ?  The reality of the situation is aptly conveyed in the following thought –
“ I did not  know how to worship until I knew how to love ”
So love is an essential pre condition of being religious.

Our forgotten values : Let us take a close look at the Maxim  :
Religion Unites . It never Divides ”
I had the opportunity to travel extensively particularly in India where I spend most of my time where I try to travel by road to reach the rural areas in order to experience the feelings of the devotees. It allows me too witness and share  their love. These devotees may be living  without the basic resources such as water and electricity but there is so  much warmth and love in their eyes.  They may not have worldly possessions and material things but I found they were rich with love.  I often know that devotees from various regions within  India. All honour the principle that Religion unites. It never divides. They practice  it in their lives and spread the message in their  local languages and dialects to their neighbours . What enables them  to practice this message of unity is a fact that they understand the meaning  of the word religion which for  them  serves as a uniting force.
Where ever I go in this world  irrespective of  huge amount of diversity I see  Oneness of all  these  faiths is experienced through the understanding of the religion.  People are able to join together as one family having love within themselves and for each other. Their different languages and cultures do not prevent  this unity taking place.  But their feelings are above  words and that they are the creation of  the One same source.  The vision is to establish love for all people and not  to limit it to individual communities. Once this love has identified itself and awareness is created for welfare  of all humans .then our prayer is for all humanity and not  just for Americans  , Canadians  , British or any other section of humanity. In so many  religious institutions we hear prayers set for the whole world but  in practice  this love is restricted to people of the same language , race and culture . On the other hand  it is refreshing to see those truly praying for all and living for all . Such love cannot come about without an acceptance of the fact that we  are one global family. ‘Such an acceptance cannot occur without knowing God who is the creator of all.  When we identify with our common source we see all as apart of God , we see all people as the children of God.  And hence Universal Brotherhood become possible.
It is in this spirit of unity with each  other that prayers for one and all become possible.

Religion teaches Love : I constantly pray for the elimination of hatred we see all around us. Religion does not teach  people to fight . I am often reminded  of the words of the poet  that  I used to read at school . ‘ Religion does not teach people to hate  ’ but I think looking at modern society these words seem to be true that Religion does not teach us to love.
The reality of this poem has been forgotten because people have lost the understanding of reality . When one knows the truth all fall apart . We begin  to focus on love which is one of the  basic teachings of all religions.  With such a state of mind , people can develop  such an approach to work for the benefit of all humanity.

Love – Love is God : Although we have learnt to live in the world , we have not learnt to love. My message for everybody  is to learn to love each other.  From our childhood we have continued to hear the word ‘ Love is God ’  Love is indeed of utmost importance in life .  .If you stop loving  , you stop living.   Love is an essential ingredient in the life of a devotee.

The commodity of love: We see many products readily available in the world . When  something is  not available in a country it  can be imported  from another Nation but as regards the merchandise of love  I find it is diminishing  day by day and hatred is taking up its space. Love is the one commodity which grows the  more you share it with others.  When one talks about other precious commodities of the world such as minerals, metals and natural resources  , their stock deplete the more they are used. Whereas the more love  we  give and share , the more it grows.

A heart filled with Love :   A heart may beat biologically but if it as hard as rock and is drained of love, what purpose  does its beat serve?  If indeed there is no compassion, no love within the heart , then it is not worth than a piece of rock.
Whatever is there in our  heart it does not take much time for it to come out.  The words once spoken cannot easily be retracted.

God – Description of God : There is only one God though known by many different names . Regardless of  names the entity is One.  The reason why God has so  many names is because  of His countless attributes, He has been described as all pervading  , omnipotent and that which exists in all places.  God has no beginning , no end and is every where.  God is unaffected by the changes in the world . He is completely stable . He exists in a state of equipoise.  His praises are untold .He can never be fully described . That is to say , ‘ If all the water in the world were to become ink; all the forests were to become pens ;and the world were  is turned into paper the praises of God even then cannot be adequately written .

The eternal and the immeasurable  :All that  is created has an age and a life of its own .Scientists have assessed the age of the earth , calculated the age of the trees and measured the age of mountains .But God cannot be measured.  He was never born and never dies. How then can we calculate His age?  All things  made by God definitely take birth and perish.  In fact  God is –God was and God  will always be.  This is the  eternal nature of God which must be realized during the journey of every individual’s life.

Belief in God : There  is only one God : When we talk to others   it appears as if every body seems to accept the concept  . Deep down however  people do not really believe that there is only one God.  They stick on to their belief that their God differs from yours. Sadly this has become the vision of so many religious people. If we say that God is one we must believe this to be true and also realize Him . This attainment is the ultimate truth which does not change by the constraints of time or place.
Wherever one goes , whichever direction one faces , wherever one is born the truth remains constant whether you live in the mountains , dwell in the desserts , inhabit islands or main lands.  This God always remains uniform .
For self realized persons this becomes  his genuine belief and  experience.  Without the benefit of this realization one will certainly have misconceptions . In ignorance . these misconceptions lead to one’s demise.  .

The knowledge – Value of knowledge :   When one  acquires  the knowledge , Brahma Gyan  , I will seriously recommend every one to value it. It should be worn in every occasion.   It should not be wardrobbed like a piece  of clothing  . For clothes kept in the wardrobe can easily be forgotten and discarded even without use.
When we fail to give priority to this knowledge , it is as if the Sun is  shining but the curtains  are drawn in our homes. What I mean to say is that  the capital has been given with the sure expectation that it will be put to good use in one’s life.  ‘One should therefore live one’s life in accordance with this said knowledge for it to be of real purpose.

Knowledge admits prayer : The realization of God, the formless Nirankar , is through prayer, into our lives . Living with this awareness strengthens our  belief that allows remembrance and awareness to prevail . I always believe that such awareness is valuable . It has been said- It is very  difficult to live in perpetual remembrance as this is state of beingnot at all easy to achieve.
The first step is the knowledge of the reality of God .Only then can constant and unwavering awareness  be established.
The reason why I  hold the view that one is advised to pray frequently , think of Him in every breath is in essence we do not  know  when we shall take our last  breath because there is no certainty . Always  it is said in great humility that one should relentlessly remember God always as  much as possible.   By the same token , as the result of this new found approach to the world devotee prays for all of humanity.   Today the pattern  of behaviour  in terms of worship  as I have observed is that devotees pray for the benefit of the entire human race.  However in actual fact they do not even take  a single step for matching their deeds with the words of their prayer.  When deeds are missing  - words are empty.
Prayers must be accompanied by action for them  to be truly worthy and sincere.

Divine insight :
The object of our existence is to find out why we are here. There is a definite purpose and we must identify with the Truth . One must become responsive to this reality and not to be resigned to only chasing shadows in life.
If  an insect is resting on a light bulb we notice its shadow projected on the wall . The insect is actually on the bulb and that is from where it has to be removed. If we were inclined to remove the insect , it is of no use if we direct our fly squatter at  the shadow.
Similarly the ignorance of mind can be dispelled only with enlightenment which is also one’s true purpose.

Devotees –Identifying a devotee :
A devotee is not recognized by  the outwardly attire or  general appearance but by the strength of his good deeds. Until devotion for God enters his heart  a person cannot become a devotee.  He must  have certain qualities in his life . Such inspired individuals  always remember to stand within yet aloof from the world keeping their exemplary character.  People of the world and devotees have different outlooks on life. Although devotees are no different from people of the world , their inner constitution and loving nature stand out  .Devotees just  like other people too have family needs , have to organize their time  , tasks , work commitments and undertake responsibility  . Yet the devotees’ outlook and thinking  differ . They have rare attributes in abundance  which others do not have.   The devotees live with the spirit of sacrifice  , humility and tolerance.  The more they practice these virtues – the more  polished and pure they become  . The devotee resigns to the fact that  he is totally beyond  praise.  He always lives his life in complete submission to Nirankar , True God , who is the reservoir of peace in which the devotee  desires to merge to benefit from His bliss.

Three pillars of devotion :  There are three important pillars in a devotee’s life .
1.      One must undertake selfless service (sewa) for the whole world .
2.      One must be aware of God’s omnipresence. ( Simran )
3.      One must worship amongst fellow enlightened beings ( sadh Sangat)
People who imbibe such qualities seek perpetual support and continued presence of God . The devotee always admits that  there is nothing  bigger or better than the Almighty creator .  He acknowledges that every one resides in God and that God is in everything.
The true  seeker is connected to the formless Nirankar giving respect  to every one ,  developing divine qualities and constantly linking in love of God  , awareness of God and saying :
Tuhi NirankarYou are the Formless
Mein teri Sharan HaI am in your shelter.
Meinu bhaksh lauPlease forgive me.
This mantra is powerful in that it enables the devotee to receive more of  this wonderful illumination . Through these words further clarity and purity is achieved in life. The devotee always wants others to gain the same insight as he has had  , that his friends and colleagues should access , acquire and achieve this sublime state of being so that they too may complete their life journey in bliss  and joy.

Personal growth – strengthening the self :
When I ponder over the subject  I always have to look inwardly  . Brahma Gyan should be accompanied with the resolute determination to strengthen oneself.
It is not  about looking at others , about what they do or do not do ,. It is about self improvement – developing character of saintly quality. For  example love , humility ., tolerance and respect .
I often say  If anyone were to test or measure spiritual strength , they must consider the number of times they get disturbed in a day. ’
We should always strive to strengthen  our tolerance and resolve. Consider mother earth for example . You can walk on it , dig into it  , take from it yet it always remains tolerant , generous and forgiving.  This should be the characteristic of a human being.

Humility  : Strength or  weakness :
The subject of humility is an important matter in the realm of spirituality. Humility is like the tree which stoops low because it is laden with fruits . The tree gives freely to others without discrimination . It matters not if  the people throw stones at the tree , the branches will always bend down to present their fruit and goodness.
This I compare to the life of a humble person., who regardless  of circumstances makers offerings , love and compassion to others  . I think living  in this state is a sign of  formidable strength and not a weakness.
The materialistic people tend to  see humility as weakness. The general view is that  one continues to hold ego , wealth  , regarding others as inferior. The proud, arrogant person considers himself  to be the tallest  amongst all .How can he find the courage to bow before others ? In contrast , the person who expresses devotion to God lives in humility . This  is not weakness  but strength and a key factor in his life.  It is not easy to subscribe  to humility  in one’s life. If it was easy then nobody would run away from it .
The  fact that people shy away from this humble approach  confirms that this characteristic is not easy to adopt. To bow before others and accepting that they may be wrong is great strength.
Bowing down to others signals in fact one’s devotion and strength. Developing it takes  you to the heights of devotion and changes the purpose and direction on the map of life.

Priorities in life – real meaning :
What does a person think  about  his priorities in life .Today’s  man does not really think about the meaning of his life’s existence. Instead he relies on objects which do not  stand by him and which eventually wither away .Considering the way of the world it seems that the whole of man’s view towards life has become materialistic.  His primary aim may be to live in enjoyment .. This leads to an attraction towards the glitz  of city life.   It further becomes a need to live in an attractive house  and have a decent attire to wear. Perhaps it goes still further to a desire to acquire power and status in society.  This pursuit of having and owning more and more becomes synonymous with  productive life. However a proper and worthy life is one in which priority is given to the real purpose of existence . Until a person’s thoughts are focused on the higher purpose life cannot be as productive. Without this thought man fails to achieve the object of his existence and so leads a meaningful life.
At the dawn of the new millennium when all clocks  were to change and the focus was on the hands of time it occurred to me that no age  was good or bad , better or worse. All times, places and cities are equally worthy of praise if one lives a purposeful life.

Harbouring Hatred:   If you harbour hatred  within your heart and praise  God in volumes it will not really help you . Love must prevail. This point is explained by the following example . A mother watching her daughter play outside  sees her being pushed to the floor by a stranger  who warmly greets the mother with a smile and complements her by saying that she is a virtuous  and a wonderful  person.  But these complements do not have a positive impact on the mother . She is rather displeased even to the extent that she would even tell the person to get out of the house.
On the other hand a mother watches a stranger showing  love to her child giving her a sweet . The mother acknowledges the gesture and develops positive vibes even though the stranger walks off even without saying  a word.   Similar  is the case  with the   children of God.
It is not words of worship or rituals that please God rather it is one’s conduct towards his children ie fellow human beings. Love pleases God. It works to bind people together.

Humanity today- Direction taken by man :
When you consider man’s direction we see that he is able to put up huge buildings , develop transport system and maximize scarce resources .his be defined  as real progress ?  He has not changed a lot over ages .He was ready to kill his fellow human being a in pre –historic times.  He is ready to do so today.  In modern times it can be said that man has graduated  , obtained degrees , written many  books and reached intellectual heights  .  Can we consider such a person as intelligent-if born as a human he does not live as one.  Wise men tell us that regardless of what he reads ,  a few words of  love is a sign of wisdom  .I would even say that intelligence becomes burdensome if you do not open your heart to holy scriptures .It will change your world. Man has traveled far  and widely but they have failed to learn what is wise , worth learning  in their life . Where is humanity going ?  Today we see a man’s attempt to harm his own fellow beings . He has lost his awareness of the truth . God made him in his own image but due to ignorance and selfishness he lost his wisdom .

Time : Time is very precious and the time we all have is diminishing  day by day.  I believe that what you plan to achieve tomorrow  , act now   as we do not know  what the next moment holds. For this very reason you should practice awareness  of God at all times.

The religion of Humanity:
I have tried to press home the message that there is one religion and that is the religion of humanity.  It is the only universal religion and we should all live together in this way .Upholding human values  is a key factor in devotion . All devotees are required to stay on the track of humanity.
In an athletic race ,  a  runner who strays from his lane disqualifies . Even if he crosses the finishing line first , he is denied the gold medal . Not only this ,  he even loses the chance of obtaining the silver or the bronze medal. In devotion , one should stay on the right track , the path of humanity.
I would strongly recommend that every one must move within the required parameters in order to win this game of our lives.

Simple Living High thinking : Elevated attitude can be gained by mixing with those who have a relationship with God . Such people  live a life of simplicity .By bonding with them , one too becomes motivated towards a life of higher thinking and simple living .   In managing such a  lifestyle one can be rewarded with peace and happiness.
When we reflect upon the greatness of the past sages and comment upon their past achievements their practices may show the way but  cannot help us in the task at hand. The energy that is required in devotion to God  is that of  unwavering tolerance ,
humility and love . The spiritual stamina   needs to be developed through exercising the personal relationship  between the devotee and God.

Oneness :  Know One ; Believe One ; Become One
We must all serve  humanity at large , regardless of the manifold differences of nationality , caste , creed, colour , religion  or  language. We  should never succumb to prejudices . We should simply love all people and regard them as members of a single human family.  “ Look at the diversity  and see the beauty

A Common Thread :   There is one common thread  that unites us all in the thread of humanity . We are like beads held together by the thread . If the thread is broken , then the beads fall apart and scatter . So we have to keep the thread intact  and bind together in a sense of  love  and unity.
“ Our world is too small  for walls

Walls of hatred and fear have been created to divide the human family .Such differences are first created in the mind. which requires a change in thought process. Once a person has gained the awareness of the truth , he regards the whole of humanity   his own . This is an inner state within which a person ceases to see outwardly differences  , but begins to see all as one.
Let us demolish the man made walls and enjoy the sense of liberation that results from it.

Introspection – Right Direction :  If  traveling  on a  yacht  one raises the sails.  One  notices that the sails always influence the direction of the yacht .If wind is blowing in one particular direction, if we appeal to the wind to change its direction it may not happen  . It is always  simple to adjust the sails in the direction  in which we wish to go.
I often notice following thought in the life of a  true devotee . The wisdom of God Knowledge  gives the devotee the  understanding that he should adjust his sails to move in the right direction.  This allows him to live in equilibrium and offer support to other human beings easing pain in their lives . Such a devotee will have the capacity to live for those who have fallen , wipe away the tears of those torn down.

Becoming a light house : The path of devotion is not an easy path to walk on .  For those who live in enlightenment it is their duty to become lighthouses for the rest of the world .However this is possible only if there is adequate growth of love and humility within our lives. This nurtures spiritual values in such a way that one becomes a towering  light  . Like a light house which rescues ships in stormy waters . I wish for devotees to let their lights shine.
May they give those in need of God Knowledge an opportunity to attain the awareness of Truth and help to complete their life’s journey safely. In this lies bliss.

Our efforts : The efforts of Mission’s members are laudable to create a society which brings harmony to the world.  One candle lit in the distance even if glowing on its own can give direction to some one who passes the way .The candle has the potential to  light other candles which are unlit. However if the candle is blown out then it cannot  help anybody at all . What has value is whether  the candle is lit or not.
We see that there is much darkness in the world but if we all work together to remove the darkness a brighter world can be secured  .
I often think about the fable of the forest bird that carries small droplets of water in its beak and feathers , attempting to extinguish  a forest fire . An onlooker swathe movements of the bird and laughed at the insignificance of its efforts .  What impact could these small droplets have upon the vast fire ?  The bird responded , “ When history is written  I wish to be remembered as one of those who attempted to putout the fire ,not one who created it ”.  This should also be the way of the devotee . thinking about the efforts he makes to ward off speedily the growing evil in the world.

I am an artist at living . My work of art is my life
